Yes, why not?

If those two famous people went around the world on small-wheeled, short-travel really heavy bikes, why shouldn't someone do it on a bike much lighter?

I've been tempted to stick some dual-sport tyres on my zx9 and take it green-laning some time (maybe after some renthal bars).

That R1 probably weighs the same or less than something like the XT660, that a lot of people seem to think is a decent trail style bike.

The big BMWs certainly aren't cheaper and have dodgy hi-tech brakes etc, I'd choose the R1 Razz.

So does Nick Sanders. He holds the (no longer recognised by Guiness because it's too dangerous) record of fastest 2 wheeled circumnaivigation of the world.

On an 04/05 R1.

What's the tank range on that R1?

The drowned exhaust bit was amazing, how many spare parts do you reckon he go through?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll only bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

probably lots! Does anyone know how many miles between services on a 'normal' r1 ?

as for the mileage on the tank, i can't imagine it being that much as it looks like he has a shed load of luggage, which looks heavy!

Probably 4k for an oil and filter change 8k for plugs, it could be even more.

Don't think he used a huge amount of stuff apart from ordinary consumables tyres, C&S etc. he even did a trackday with an M/C club on the way. Laughing He was in an issue of bike last year. Thumbs Up
