Hi... i have just looked into buying a CBR 600 f, it rides really nice ,looks really clean and he wants £2500 on a 03 plate.
I want to do touring and play around at weekends on it, obviously it would be nice to know how they feel to ride after a day constant riding and how reliable they are?
Any response would be gratefully received...
Thanks

The bike is a very good all rounder. Enough power for a hoon and comfy for touring in. The position isn't so sporty but nor is it up right.
I really cant think of much atm as of lack of sleep over the past couple of days ____________________ Current: Ducati Multistrada 1200s |

Its good very good, its all the ibles ...dependable reliable, took one to the South of France last year and back , managed to do a 19 hour stint on one (with a 2 hour ferry inbetween) and managed to be reasonably human the day after.
its semi sporty (above most riders limits anyway) , has a big tank (19 litres) has decent range 165 miles to absolutely dry and will hit 162mph (155 with paniers)
But it lacks charactor , in that it can keep up with most IL4s but doesn't have nasty headshake and it is completely balanced to the point that it is almost boring. If you can call 110bhp 175kilos boring.
Curiously enough the F owns the RR in street riding as the RR has no midrange at all , I had a go at the fixed mid range version the 05 RR is had zilch mid range , the 03 RR had even less. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. My Dad took a CBR600FW to Barcelona. He was riding with a couple of 1000cc + bikes averaging a good 140/150 on the big roads over there. So his bike was clearly just off its top speed.
It didnt use a drop of oil on the whole trip, Returned home without a single problem 1000 miles later.
And as has already been said, They are a great all rounder. |

Hi, I've got almost the same. 02 plate, 9000 miles, serviced every thou or so, in HRC colours - Red,Blue, White Stripe.
My first big bike and it's fantastic for me. More than quick enough but increadibly stable and sure footed. Tank range ain't great if you're pushing it (17l only) but has a decent reserve gauge and will do about 20-25miles on reserve.
Throttle is a little snatchy at really low revs but I think it's got a decent midrange and really screams about 7000+. Nice overrun sound when coming off throttle as well.
Styling is a little dated now, but hey, it's still a 160mph machine with a 3.5sec 0-60 time and you can ride it all day without walking like steptoe's dad after getting off!
Only problem I've had is it hit 125 deg C sat in traffic last week. MIL light came on but didn't miss a beat. Cooled down when running - checked fan fuse and had blown - 50p repair and good as new. Bombproof!
I paid nearly 3500 for mine from a dealer so that sounds like a steal mate - enjoy

somethings to look out for , check the downpipes, they are made of mild steel , and rust the end can and link pipe is stainless so no worries there, I changed mine to stainless and it is a horrible dirty job to change the downpipes over.
Also listen for the CCT roughness,
thats all the weaknesses there are to this bike. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |
