Okay, So I got a new 80cc toy. Derestriction?

Right, So basically, I got an 80cc Suzuki cp80 Moped as a bit of a fun toy, but with being 17, I want to derestrict it. And no, I'm not planning on kitting it out, I'm just saying, If the potential is there, I may as well unlock it. Right now, It does about 55mph TOPS. And I'm not sure where the restrictor is (Or even if there IS one to be fair, it's a 1991)
Any idea's? I've been told it could be on the reeds... And another friend of mine said there could be a pin in the throttle twist, Stopping it from opening all the way... I've also been told it's a CDI restriction. But as far as I recall, My bike doesnt have a CDI lol Could be wrong mind

Hi

Would suspect it isn't restricted to be honest. No real reason to restrict an 80. UK learner limit was 12.2hp and it would be an achievement for an 80cc commuter engine to manage that, let alone need bringing down to that.

So in which case, It's just more sluggish than the other 80's? XD
I suppose that's fair enough. But I still have my suspicions =/ It's doesnt seem right for an 80, Lacks top end. (not that theres much to an 80) but more than it should.

55mph sounds about right to me for an 80cc. A 100cc Peugeot will only do 65mph.

It's not like having an 80cc big bore kit that's designed for performance. This is designed for economy and reliability, obviously sacrificing some performance to achieve that.

Ahh, That would explain why mt friends 80's are aster then, Thanks for that =) I'll just have to give the bike a good ol clean inside and out, Already done the carb, Gunna de-coke the exhaust/piston and clean the inlet and outlet
