Still no worthwhile suggestions. Thinkin' about it, I can just imagine this thread but in a 'Workshop section' stylee -

Stressed out owner of a knackered bike says. "My floodle valve is bust, how do I fix it?"
Stink replies "Remove and replace with suitable part, but remember to check this, that and the other"
Some fuckwit pipes up "Oi thats a silly answer, but I have no other suggestions so errrrr errrrrr, oh fuck I better not give up my day job in IT"

Anyone got a better idea apart from "write to your MP" or "lets vote Green" ?

Civil servants actually run things; politicians just think up new ways to fuck up the country.

Remove the politicians and the country will still run just fine. With people in charge who know how to lead and who aren't motivated purely by greed, life may be briefly uncomfortable for certain sectors of society, but that would soon pass...

Thats the best we have.
Overthrowing the government and replacing them with people who think they could do better and promise to hand back the reins at some point isnt a good idea.

Yes civil servants are at the controls of things day to day, but they still need some direction, and some muppet from BNP, UKIP, or a pub expert is likely to fuck things up more than the lot we have at the moment.

Ok maybe it wouldnt get as far as court then.

After all, we have a policy of shoot first, ask questions later for suspected terrorists.

I think planning to overthrow the government by non-democratic means would constitute a terrorist threat.

Indeed. Previous Prime Ministers have thought along similar lines

Quote:
Such talk stoked up an establishment already trembling at what it saw as Britain's inexorable slide towards anarchy, if not communist rule. Institutions were collapsing, inflation was rising, tax was at a near-mythic top rate of 98%, and Britain was losing the last outposts of empire. Above all, the trade unions, riddled with leftists and Soviet sympathisers, seemed to have the nation under their thumb. "It was no longer a green and pleasant land, England," recalls retired Major Alexander Greenwood, Colonel Blimp made flesh.

The great and the good feared that the country was out of control, and that Wilson lacked either the will or the desire to stand firm. Retired intelligence officers gathered with military brass and plotted a coup d'etat. They would seize Heathrow airport, the BBC and Buckingham Palace. Lord Mountbatten would be the strongman, acting as interim prime minister. The Queen would read a statement urging the public to support the armed forces, because the government was no longer able to keep order.

Sorry I don't have time to read the whole thread, going out and all, but:

Yes, because the worst this evil Govt. could do is arrest people. Ever heard of Tiananmen Square?

It is astonishing how deluded and stupid people can be. That message was so massively flawed, unrealistic, inarticulate and foolish to be laughable.

However much passion the writer has for change will not change the fact they clearly lack the aptitude to pull off such an operation.

In fact, I am surprised that Hetz posted it as a laudible opinion. I'm sure he knows it's crap.

I said the guy has the right idea, and he does. Drag the establishment out into the street by the scruff of it's collective neck, stand it up against a wall and shoot it for crimes against the people.

Hello, hello, hello, now here's a message from your queen
As figurehead of the status quo I set the social scene
I'm most concerned about my people, I want to give them peace
So I'm making sure they stay in line with my army and police
My prisons and my mental homes have ever open doors
For those amongst my subjects who dare to ask for more
Unruliness and disrespect are things I can't allow
So I'll see the peasants grovel if they refuse to bow

Crass - Big A Little A.

Thumbs Up

(Not really that relevant, but i think you get the general idea)

Sure, you and others like you, who have been conditioned to bend and take it real deep, without complaint.

Don't confuse people who don't agree with people who do agree but just don't have the balls to take a stand.

Try thinking before typing, eh? Laughing

Oh yeah. They were herded into cattle-wagons, loads died in there. Then they were driven from the wagons, seperated from children, seperated by sex. Then stripped naked. Shorn. Then driven into the gas chambers. All the while being kicked and butted and suchlike, under plumes of human smoke from the crematoria chimneys. But they didn't 'know' anything dodgy was going on, eh? Get real.

I suppose all the chinese protestors in Tiannamen Square didn't care either, until suddenly they woke up one morning and just decided that 'today's the day!' Or any other revolution you care to mention.

And I suppose Labour's recent election catastrophes are due to people not caring, eh? Just coincidence. Rolling Eyes

Your report-card: "Must try harder". Laughing
