Air Conditioning my room

I work nights, I sleep in the day. My room is really hot and hard to sleep in how can I make it cool as quietly and cheaply as possible.

Do you have a loft hatch? It's surprising how much cooler you can make your house by opening that and letting the heat escape.

I got too sweat and went out and bought one.

I got that but for £143 as it was 15% day, It said to leave it for 4 hours before starting but it was too hot so it got 20 minutes. Best money I have ever spent my room is a fridge now.

Does the sun face your room? Line it with black cloth to reflect any solar gains through your windows - opening your windows won't help a smidgen unless you allow a free-flow through your house by opening other windows elsewhere in the house.

Don't buy an a/c unit, for all the sunny days we get per year, it won't be worth the extra cost.

apart from today its quite hot and its fan time. we never get to air con time unless its for heating Crying or Very sad

22 is that it mine is at 28 im roasting leave my-AC on all night when i eventually get home i have been know to stay out all night n day but its mostly on and my energy bill isint too much different in the summer

I was thinking about getting an air con unit today, have just moved house and am on the 2nd floor so all the heat comes up, and for the last week or 2 i have been absolutely sweating balls.

I carry a massive fan around with me from room to room and the moment im out of its warm but circulating air i am a sticky mess, fucking horrible, i dont like the rain in winter but i wish it was winter now, at least when its cold you can wrap up...

To top it all my bike is off the road so all i can do is sit around sweating balls, cant even go for a ride grrr!!! Evil or Very Mad

I have a simlar problem, i work from home in the spareroom, its a small room and my pc is on all day and most of the night, i work right by the window but the room still get very hot.

My not so cheap option is to build a new house work from the garage and put UFH in for the winter months. Might be an idea to look at one of those, the problem i have i use photography lights in the room and they do give off heat even tho they are designed not to.
