Should there be a seperate area for posts of a mechanical nature? If you vote it'd be good if you could comment on why too.

I don't think that it would work. Only a few of us actually ever answer technical questions and I'm not sure that people would go out of their way to do into the technical segment of the site.

Plus I can see the same questions being answered over and over again. Its better to intersperse them within general chat!

Although a good idea, as Marjay has said, the questions will still probably end up getting asked in the general chat area.

Though I'm easy either way.

Many people had suggested it.
The problem was that the forum needed to reach a 'critical number' of posts for it to be worth it. Less than that and people won't bother looking at it. Therefore there will be less answers, so people will start posting in general anyway.

I definitely haven't looked at it so much since it was separated.
