Caught Speeding

Have been caught speeding now I have a query as have heard different things from different people.
I have had my drivers license for 4 years now not one single point and I passed my bike test 2 months ago been riding bikes since i was eleven years old but If I get six points technically because they classify the car and bike license as one if I get six points I shouldnt lose my license should I as I have technically had my license for 4 years. Any thoughts on this matter.

The 6 point limit applies for the first 2 years after getting your first full licence. So you will be fine on that concern.

Cheers for that I thought that was the case I just wanted to check but hopefully all will be good cause a friend of mine her father is a magistrate and he said that because I was chased by an undercover cop car he said if you say that you were speeding because you feared for your life then you can not be fined but to be honest I don't think much is gonna happen on account of the officer was on his own he couldn't operate the camera properly the video was so rubbish there was no way that anybody will look at that and make it stick I was so far ahead of the officer when he apparently was 'matching' my speed even I found it difficult to see how he could have is beyond me.

he might not be able to prove an exact speed, maybe driving in excess may be brought to you or another offence.

No this one was BMW 3 series guy looked like he was squint and the other thing as well he chased me for ages without his blue flashing lights he was going to pull me over for a minor offence cause he said that I used a left hand lane meant for only turning left not realising that maybe actually I was coming up on the left hand side of the cars as it was a red light and believe it or not a bike can use the same lane as another car. The word Entrapment springs to mind. bearing in mind it was at 23:00 at night on an empty bypass and he clocked me doing 102mph me thinks maybe his wife was not happy with him or something and he needed someone to take it out on. Next time won't bother to stop then just say it was one of my mates from south africa where I'm from. All seems a little bit easier.

Yeah but taking into account that it was the undercover cop and one car in front of him both waiting in the right hand lane and it was 23:00 at night in a small village that everyone just goes straight through to ge to the next town I think in this circumstance it was pretty safe to do so I fully understand your point and I would never do this during rush hour traffic for the above reason but surely in your opinion the police officer should have put his lights on straight away instead of chasing me for what can only be described as the entire bypass before putting his lights on don't you think?

Maybe he thought he would pull you, to warn you if you had stayed in the limits.

Perhaps he was hoping to get in front of you before pulling you over, as he was on his own.

As he only had 1 car turning right in front of him and it was 23:00 so no other traffic was around, you must have really shot away for the lights. From that point of view him putting the lights on would have seen you disapear, never to be seen again. So by him not using them he has caught you up and pulled you.

Even in unmarked cars they still wear the dayglo vests or they are easily seen, guess you missed them

No he wasn't wearing a dayglow vest just the normal black vest but the car in front of him was carrying on straight and he just overtook that car as soon as they were past the lights and was right behind me the whole time because I was only doing sixty because it was an unlit road it was only when I turned onto the bypass that I sped up because it was well lit and no one on there he had loads of opportunity to pull me over before the bypass he was right behind me the whole time.

I've had this happen to me twice (entrapment) but luckily I've noticed both times and managed to avoid their 'trap'. Devious bastards if you ask me, but oh well...

I'd go with the you were concerned for your personal safety and were attempting to get away from him until he put his blues and twos on and clearly identified himself as a Policeman.

As for the filtering offence - it's a little thing.

Yeah I've spoken to a solicitor and she said that it was weird that a undercover cop car was on a quiet country road maybe he was doing a bit of pigging sorry dogging also he couldn't even operate the camera properly I had to watch myself at 4x speed man I was practically travelling at the speed of light so my solicitor said that we could say that he didn't know how to use the equipment so how do we know that he had set it up properly. But at the end of the day I will just have to wait as obviously it's up to the magistrate as to wether they send out a summons in the first place.

You see in South Africa there is no points system insurance isn't a legal requirement so if you go out without it it's your own problem but it means that insurance is cheap and they only do fully comp. Also if you do get pulled over you just give the cop a can of coke or some money and off you go and everyday is sunny. I was living the dream there but england pays more so gotta put up with this situation until further notice.

Obviously by him chasing me and me Feeling 'threatened for my life' I decided that I needed to get away so therefore if he had pulled me over at the first instance instead of chasing me then I would never have sped you see he caused me to speed which is what he wanted because he couldn't have really done me for anything if he had just pulled me over for the offence I say offence that he had originally intended to pull me over for.

Well he may have decided that had you not broken the speed limits he would have not bothered to pull you.
If you say you were not breaking the limits before you hit the bypass. Then how was he chasing you if as you said he was right behind you....
We are all followed by cars and are they chasing us all the time ????
How did you feel threatned for your life ? Was he so close behind you, that you felt he was trying to knock you off ?
If that was the case, then why not pull over and let them passed. Other than that he is just any other car going the same way as you.

I don't see where entrapment comes into this.
He was just giving you chance to prove, that he was wasting his time pulling you over for a minor error. You then get out the rope and hang yourself by blasting off and breaking the speed limits.

I think what you are really saying is, I got a bmw driver behind, who fancies a bit of a late night race... Sadly for you he was a police driver, who watched you rack up the penalty points and you are now trying to worm your way out of the situation.


No good spouting about what happens in ZA here. You have to live by the same rules as the rest of us. Get caught take the hit unless you got the £££ to employ the top bods who will find a way to get you off.

And I think that when you say 'undercover cop car' what you actually mean is 'unmarked cop car'. The two are totally different things.
