Because it's limited edition so to speak....not that easy to get hold of...so...like all rare bikes...it's worth more.

Reason it is so expensive - it is basically a MotoGP bike with lights and a number plate....I don't know a huge deal about them....but i'm sure they kick out just over 200bhp....

Still not worth it. They are overrated, overpriced pieces of plastic crap. They don't appeal to me one little bit. There's so many more things that I could find that are better than that to spend my money on.

Aww, someone is jealous. Razz Laughing You'd have one tomorrow if offered, seeing as I couldn't get insured I'd give it some on a private road then get rid, and buy something more effective. Twisted Evil

I wouldn't mind the transporter. Drooling

If I was given one course I would take it, it's a free £45,000. It'd be up for sale straight away though. I don't see what is so special about it and it is definitely not worth £45,000. All Ducatis are overpriced.

I love it when ignorant people spout crap when they know nothing at all about the subject.

Why is it so expensive? because it isn't a mass produced production bike, it's a hand built Moto GP spec race bike with lights on. It's got a very light, super stiff hand made frame, a very special non - production hand built V4 engine with lots and lots of magnesium and titanium bits in it, the very best suspension as found on MotoGP and WSS bikes but not on production road bikes, super light carbon everything, it's dripping in electronics - adjustable traction control, data logging, the same dash unit and ECU pack used on the MotoGP bike, a very special and expensive fuel injection system, forged magnesium wheels, need I go on? It handles like you just wouldn't believe, super sensitive to rider inputs, unbelieveable power delivery there is NOTHING else on the road to touch it. In car terms, it's a Formula 1 car with headlamps bolted on and road registered. Cheap at £40K, especially since the price includes three years servicing.

Oh, and what do you mean plastic, the tank fairings etc are all carbon fibre.

And you think all that is worth £40,000 Laughing

So for the extra 40hp over a GSXR1000 and slightly better handling you're paying £32,000 extra Laughing Mr. Green That makes me laugh.

Much cheaper ways of being exclusive and much better bikes to own that have their own unique characteristics too.

That's all in my opinion though because if I don't put that everyone will jump on me Rolling Eyes

Having a Desmo would be everything.

And I disagree with anyone that says that it's just a penis extension.

Coz it goes like a f.ing rocket and there is no doubt in my mind that no other bike 'out of the crate' could come anywhere near it.

Rock on the desmo!

And you don't!?!?

As above, I think 40k for what you're getting is stonking value. Don't forget value is not only determined by an items intrinsic value...

what about the y2k jet engined bike surely that is a stupidly fast and exlusive bike, they even come with a lifetime engine warranty because the people that built it belive if you blow one of those engines up and survive you deserve a new engine.

Not at all. I'd much rather have a Honda NR over the Desmo.
