Anything which isnt going to make you sore in regards your injuries. If that is not really going to cause a problem I would say a sports 6 or some sort.

And since you are saving up, consider ZX6R's from 98/99 kind of time as they seem to be a proper bargain, as are Srad's if you can cope with the ugly arse on it.

If you are kinda set on a tourer, Hornets are good, Bandits are obtainable at good prices nowadays too!

If you are considering a Bandit, then consider the fazer 600 as well. Bandits are heavy bikes, Fazers are lighter and brilliantly comfy & fantastic at touring.

Would think a bike with a good riding position, comfort after being out of the saddle being important.

A more upright riding position may be better, sports bikes have a too scrunched up riding position. Cruiser maybe.

I doubt you are fully healed from that off. Muscle and nerve damage take a very long time to mend. What you ride will be very dependent on what you can ride. An R6 may be the bike of your dreams and you may well be able to ride it expertly but if you start cramping and getting pain after half an hour I the seat what is the point?
You need to try different bikes out before committing a load of cash.

To be fair it doesn't even have to be a year. You could pick up a smaller bike for a few months, and as long as you look after it you'll be able to flog it for pretty much the same amount.

As far as the original question is concerned if it's just to get you back into biking I'd suggest anything that is in good working order, straight and well maintained. I'd pick a few bikes that take your fancy, try and test ride them and see where it takes you. And remember it doesn't have to be forever, if you avoid dealers you can swap bikes fairly easily without loosing much money.

Old monsters are shit, my mate has an S2 monnie dark that has never really run right and they only have 50bhp, You looking in the right area though I would say a naked 6 sounds like a good move.

Sorry to hear about yer Vfr, glad yer coming back though! Thumbs Up

Hard to say what to recommend, maybe see if you can blag some test rides on a few bits and pieces, see what riding position and power suits you after your accident then maybe aim for a cheaper version Thumbs Up

After my off (nowhere near as bad as yours but still on a vfr Wink ) I had a quick go on a mates Multistrada 1000, I still really badly want one, sad eh? But now i've got a Zx6 beacause it was dirt cheap... Horses for courses and all that!

Theres a reason the old monsters are cheap, they require a lot of attention and looking after the new ones are much better. I think from the 620 on there okay.

The original was a budget Ducati which still needed the expensive services
