god damn apple laptop!

I just moved into my own place a few days ago and ive been lent an apple laptop, im really struggling to get used to it though, i need help with a few things please.

firstly how do i get the webcam to work when im on msn? its not the normal msn im used to its called microsoft messenger and i dont seem to be able to get normal msn on here.

also i cant seem to get flash ganes to play, i tried downloading the latest flash player but now everytime i open up a flash game it just closes the browser im using firefox instead of safari and it makes no difference which browser i use.

I miss windows

help please and apple n00b!

p.s its a "MacBook" and i think its using "intel based macintosh" if that makes any difference at all...

Give that link a go for updating your flashplayer to one that works

As for the webcam front, suprisingly neither the Mac version of Microsoft messenger nor Adium (Which is a much neater MSN clone btw, www.adiumx.com) support this. Wierd but there you go

I'll give that msn a go tonight, the flash download made no difference though, i cant open some flash games, it wont let me use myspace or facebook either it just closes the browser half way through loading the page anybody else had this?

Maybe a full reinstall of flash is in order

Make sure Safari is completely closed (hold down the mouse on the safari icon in your tray then select quit from the menu that pops up), then run https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg

Once that's done, restart the mac then try the first link again. Hopefully that'll help

Are you sure it doesn't have windows as well.Click on the apple at the top left of the screen and go down to system preference then click on startup disc and wait a minute.If a windows icon comes up click on it to login windows.

nope no windows im on the laptop now so ill give the other msn and the flash thingy a try and edit this post with the results

right, aMSN did the job thanks for that im still having no luck with facebook/myspace etc... my boss suggested i check the security settings, how do i do this and does it sound like it could be causing the described issues?

Do what I said earlier but in stead of startup disc go to security.

RIP apple laptop, i took it to the apple shop and they pluged it into their computers and told me that the mother board has failed, £430 to fix!!! screw that, ah well no more interweb for a while!

Shame about that. I use Windows for my games PC, Linux on my work PC and have a MacBook for my living room. I love the MacBook - great piece of kit once you've learned how to drive it, providing it's not already broken.
