Alright guys, some odd one i can't seem to work out here.

My sister was using my dads profile to print something off. She printed and then something went very bad with the machine, i didnt see what happend at first but she asked me to have a look.

It was a black screen, something about checking some system files i think, before i could get a grasp of it she pressed spacebar out of boredom i think and it went straight back to the logon screen.
I logged on as me and it works fine, but if you try and log on to my dads profile it says in a round about way, FAIL.
So what can i do? His account is the administrator too.

Thanks

Sounds like a corrupt profile...

Reboot to start a fresh. Log in as yourself (take it your an admin) and rename your dads account in c:\users (e.g. colin is change to oldcolin) Get him to log in and it will creat a new profile...Reboot and log yourself in. Copy desktop, favorites and any thing else he needs (can try the lob but might not work) into the new profile.

Were are the files stored? Desktop and favorites can be copied. I would make sure all files and folders are showing and copy over bit by bit from the old profile until it falls over.. Then you know were the problem is... To be honest I recon you can copy over the lot and it will be fine.. Profiles can be a pain in the ass... no logic there sometimes..

Try and see.. The thing is you can always roll it back and rename the profile to what it was... If you copy the files they will always be there so you wont loose anything..

Think the only stuff you should need are his DOCS and FAVS If its corrupt I would leave any other data apart from his PST if he has outlook running?

Prob desktop is full of stuff too. Search the drive for files ending in the installed applications extension (e.g. .doc , .pdf and .xls etc) Then you will be safe..
