Die getting nsr home?

Hiya all, i have had a runner 125 for a year now & got a cbt.
but i'm 6ft & 15 stone (been weightlifting & put on 2 stone ),now i think i'm just to big 4 that runner sooooooooo i'm getting a nsr125, but it's 4 miles from me home & i have never been on a manual , i know how they work & i got a car so i'm used to clutch control in that respect. what r the chances of me limping it home so i can practice on my quiet streets. got no friends to help & wallet is empty so delivery ain't an option, some advice would be grateful.
also r u allowed to derestict with just a cbt?? i'm assuming no

Practice in a car park somewhere first, I would say that you would be pushing your luck to ride it straight off, but then you may be fine, it's all down to the person. Some people take 3 attempts to pass a CBT on a geared bike (sorry Andy), some do it first time.

And no, it's not legal to derestrict it on a CBT.

You can always limp home in 1st the whole way.

What are the 4 miles like? Is it all town and junctions, stop-start stuff or what?

I think with the clutch control knowledge you have from the car, you should be alright, but if the roads are busy you want to either leave it til later at night to move it, or find a street near where you're picking it up to go up and down stopping and starting until you're happy to take it out in traffic.

Can't you get the owner to ride the bike to your house then give him a lift home?

Surely he would do that to get rid of his bike? unless your are buying it from an evil dealership or something

Thx 4 all the advice, think my dads got the answer just spoke to him and he had a manual bike 20 years ago , he thinks he can handle it home, i don't even wanna watch (don't care about him getting hurt just the bike ).

I rode mine straight home. I had bought it about a month after doing my cbt and It was easily the most dangerous ride of my life!


So yes, practice first in a quiet carpark if you can

also whats the top speed of it? it's 2001 Y Reg HONDA NSR RR 125CC, me runner done 75mph was happy enough with the power on that, but it felt like i was killing the engine on long journeys

If it's de-restricted and has normal gearing it will do 100mph+. My brother has the same model and year and his does 100 no problem.

nah it's restricted only got a cbt
like i said i was happy enough with the runners power, but i guess i would like to lose the L's now me bikes gonna look better
cant wait i'm 29 and still ain't learned to wait 4 things

I brought my NSR and had to ride it straight from a scooter.
Never road a geared bike,
understood the concept, jumped on it, and it felt so easy to do.

It really is incredibly easy.

Found getting the revs right with coming down of gears a bit difficult.
And once i learnt to just forget what gear i'm in as long as it goes it doesn't matter. (As i did stall it in third from a take off... What it was an NSR,)

just thought i would give you a update
well me dad bottled riding it home, so thought what the hell lets have a bash .
VERY surprised at myself, sat there for a min, felt weird to sit on, starting to feel stupid playing with the clutch finding the biting point, dads pissing himself laughing at me just sitting there, thought bollocks, pulled away felt natural and easy .
did not stall once, changed gears fine smooth ride all the way home (apart from hit the horn instead of indicator at one turn , but well chuffed .
think theres enough comas in that?

Gears are easier than some people think, well done for just doing it though. Top choice with the NSR.

Personally I felt you needed a few more comma's
