Jumping the gun?

Hi all,

As some of you know I have my DAS test on the 21st October, that's only just over a week away. I had the chance of getting a 600cc bike early at a price I could not turn down. Only thing is now I'm thinking maybe I should have waited until I know I've passed my test.
Do you think it's a bad idea to buy a big bike before you can ride it??

Obviously I'll be stuck with the bike either way but just wanted some opinions.

if you can pass the test then you can ride the bike, so it shouldnt be a bad idea mate

i had about 5 bigger CC bikes (from 250 to 400) before passing my test...

just make sure you dont get caught or crash

Passed my DAS a few days ago on the 10th, bought my cbr400 in may
For the right price i dont think theres a "right time" , if you fail (which im sure you wont ) you can always rebook but the bikes there. Once you pass you`ll be that desperate to get out on the road, your heart may rule your head and you may buy the first shitheap that comes along.
Take your time and buy the right bike not the first one.
I took a mate with me and he took it for the test ride and helped check it over etc

Bought my VFR near a month before I passed. The only bad thing about buying early, is that you have to spend a month knowing its in the backyard and not going anywhere...

I bought my first bike in Oct '06, did my CBT in Nov '06 and my DAS in Jan'07 (time and money sort of got in the way ) and it didnt do me any harm.
Just view it as an extra incentive to pass first time

Took delivery of my Deauville before my cbt. cbt and DAS in 7 days, 8th day riding my Deauville around Dartmor. Great incentive to pass and retake if required.

gotta have a bike waiting when you pass. how disapointing would it be to pass then have to go home and just sit there not being able to ride.
