Review : Skype Phone S1

Purchased the Skype S1 Phone yesterday for £39.99 from Woolworth's. You may be wondering how much of a phone and accessories you can actually get for essentially £40.

I was surprised to find it's actually a blinding phone. Has all of the essential features of the average phone today. Colour screen, camera, mp3 playback, video recording and the internet.

You also get Skype. This is a common feature in quite expensive phones such as the LG Viewty, but this features comes ready to go with the Skype phone. I was actually quite disappointed to find that you can't use SkypeOUT credit or subscriptions via the Skype application on the S1. There are rumors that 3 will be offering this early in 2009 but I can't see it myself. I pay around £10 for 3 months of unlimited land line calls on Skype. Where as on a mobile it can cost a lot more, considering the amount of calls I make. There is a way around the SkypeOUT feature on the S1 but it involves leaving my PC on all of the time.

As you can see it's a very stylish phone for the money.

Only downside in my opinion is that it is on 3.

Basic but it works. 256MB Memory card shown comes inclusive with the phone.
