Just a general question, what revs does anyone else's nsr have to be at to pull off from a standing halt? Question

Obviously only people with or people who have had nsr's will be able to answer this one as i know on the larger bikes they can pull off at around 2000. Also my nsr is restricted. Would that effect the revs that the bike has to be at to pull off?

Look forward to reading your comments Very Happy

If you dont give it enough throttle when you go to pull of does the engine loose acceleration and then stops running - need for restart.

Mine does this sometimes if the revs are not neaing 6000. Would derestricting the bike enable the bike to pull off at lower revs?

Hmm my nsr pulled away at 2/3krpm no problem. It was also restricted.

However, it did have problems of dying on me if I never revved it up properly to about 5k+ before I had the rebuild done. Maybe you're running with low compression. Bike might be due a rebuild soon. What's the mileage on the bike?

Either that or you ain't balancing your clutch and throttle correctly.

My NSR tends to bog down if i try and get away quickly, have to grab the clutch quickly so it doesn't stall half way across a junction. It only ever does it when i've had a new spark plug though.

It also bogged down and usually stopped when it was in its first 1000 miles till it was run in properly.

I find when i've had a new spark plug it takes about 700-800 miles before it stops bogging down on me.

To get round it just keep the revs really high setting off. Sound like a pensioner with clutch syndrome but it keeps you going!!

Yea zero G, sounds like the same thing as me with the junction! Shocked I just rev the engine quite high to pull off, that seems to work. I should hope the engine isn’t due for a rebuild; it’s only done about 3000 miles! Confused

Strange thing is that it seems to pull off OK in low revs when the bike is rolling, even if it’s only slowly. It’s just when you ask it to pull off from a standing halt? Question

The only thing I can think of is that it sounds like it's still being choked.

Turn the choke off! Shocked

Or at least make sure that it's all the way off, my old RS125 used to get muck stuck where the cable ran down to the carb.

Ah, that might be the problem. I push the lever in but it’s in a stupid place. Why they couldn’t just put it on the handlebars like normal bikes I don’t know! Rolling Eyes I will have to be extra sure it's off and see if that resolves the problem Very Happy

Thanks for your help mate Thumbs Up

When i ride the NSR i took for a normal start about 2k, more of a speedy get away about 5k.
If i'm gonig nuts about 9k.

Goose i use tick over and add a touch of throttle.

Or drop it at 3'000 for wheelie action Very Happy

I usually pull off at 2-3K, depends on how fast the junction is, and how I feel at the time, if im peeved, or nervous, I'll pull off at higher revs. Especially at this roundabout I know, much higher revs...

Can't remember what I used to pull away at if i've got a headache or am low of fuel...but otherwise hit that redline baby!
De-restricting doesn't improve low end power but it feels like it trebles the kick you get after 7-8k.

3k for a wheelie...on an NSR? Can't pretend I tried very hard on that bike but 3k seems very low!
