while working on the bike tonight my mum was screaming at me to stop working as it was anoying the neighbours and saying that the neighbours will complain, this of course i know is not true because i actually speak to the neighbours and half ddnt notice i had a bike let alone used it at night.

anyway do your neighbours get annoyed with the noises the bike makes (since there generally louder than cars).

if they do hate the noise is there anything they can do to cause trouble?

Heres a link. It applys to cars but i am pretty sure the same law applys for bike exhausts. https://www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/public/Environment/EH/EP/Noise/Transport/car_exhausts.asp

I know its also riegate and banstead council but its all the same.

im not talking about doing burnouts or reving to redline and stupidly loud stuff like that, just normal riding.

i for instance usually come back from work at 11:30pm or later and since im usually starting at 12 noon i usually do work on the bike after work so that if it does take a while it will be fixed for when i wake up rather than try and fix something in the morning and not having enough time and having to get a taxi.

They love me

They love wakin' up to the sound of me doing wheelies in the driveway on the monkey bike, or rolling burnouts on the Hornet, and a different mate on a different bike turning up every 10 mins, they love me so much they don't talk to me. Laughing

I can't imagine mine like me that much. I got caught doing a burnout in my alley, then hid in my garage Laughing

Left 2 dirty tyre marks, I thought it'd go away quickly but it's still there Embarassed

It's the main reason I don't want to get a louder exhaust, mine is loud enough when I'm coming home at 3am, down a row of garages with the sound rebounding, even though I'd shifted up to 4th and doing 20mph.

Maybe I care too much.

Don't speak to any of my neighbours but haven't got any of complaints. One of them has a really loud subaru and another has a really tasty streetfighter also loud as fvck. Noisy bastards. Evil or Very Mad Mr. Green

I live in a terraced house and my hallway runs next to next door's hallway. They hate the fact that I ride the bike up the pavement and into my hall to park it, especially when I have to rev it slightly to get the front wheel up the step. Every now & again they make a comment about it, but I do try not to have the bike running too long when it is through the front door.
They even called the police once to check if I was allowed to put my bike in the hall Shocked Luckily for me, the cop that came out is a biker that I know from Lytham and there is nothing they can do to stop me from putting Sam indoors as the house is not rented.

I live between two farms, so there's tractors and farm machinery up and down the road at all times of day. They barely notice I've got a bike.

One of my neighbours is retired now and is pestering me for a ride on it, but after seeing what he did to a tractor (and an offending lampost) I'm not so sure!! Laughing Shocked

I was trying to clear out a two stroke a mate had just bought to track, and so to see if i could maybe clear some of the oil and crap in the engine/exhaust i of course pinned it for about 30seconds in neutral. this of course didnt go down lightly with one neighbour who actually lives about 100 yards away. yet noone else cares.

When this neighbour complained i'd just kitted up to take it for a wee test run and nearly wiped him out by accident Embarassed

The area i live in is mainly full of retired old folk. Our neighbours one side are an old couple who were bikers and when we moved in they seemed really pleased to see the bike and they often reminisce about their old adventures on MZ's an BSA's. The other side are Chinese folk and don't really talk to us much, keeping themselves to themselves.

My neighbors used to ride cruisers so they are fine with it, their little kid absolutely idolizes the bike too so I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up with one the moment he is old enough.

Had a run in once with the lad who's flat over looks my garage as he didnt like the idea of me trying to fix a misfire on one of my bikes at 8:30 in the morning. Laughing

I promptly told him to do one as his gilfreind pisses me off by insiting on parking her car opposite my drive making it a pain to get the car in and out when she has an allocated parking space less than 50 yards away. Twisted Evil

Fortunately for me, there is already an irritating bunch of chaps at the top of my road, who have assorted bikes in and out and who encourage visits from young scrotes that go up and down the road all day long on assorted (probably) stolen bikes. The neighbours already hate them Laughing

So me and "my lads" will probably be seen in a better light. Most of our spannering goes on in West London, anyway.

Although I'm still not sure whether my exhaust on the 250 I've got arriving soon might be a wee bit loud Laughing but then its not as if I will be riding it up and down incessantly for three hours at a time on a Saturday afternoon.

When I used to live with the 'rents in their leafy suburb I used to get grief from the neighbours across from our garage when I had the old Vfr.
I think the alarm used to piss them off really (well it used to piss me off too but hey ho) as it was daftly sensitive and the bike wasn't entirely reliable so working on it meant plenty of alarm reset beeping... I seem to remember them just shouting "BEEP" over the fence at me every time I worked on it, that just made me laugh really Laughing
They used to shout at the other neighbours dogs for barking too, not actually at the neighbours, just their dogs! Rolling Eyes
Of course they had loud kids and parties all the time but if anyone else bothered them it was completely out of order! Confused

Maybe that's why almost all of my vehicles have had stupidly loud exhausts... Twisted Evil

I think I'm ok now I live in a terrace! Thumbs Up

My neighbours don't particularly appreciate me, which I can understand to be fair as my bike is ridiculously loud and I do come and go at all hours.

One older guy growls at me all the time, since his 18 y/o daughter asked me to take her a ride.. which reminds me, I still haven't!! Laughing
