Christ, this nation is pathetic!

If everyone complained any time I made distasteful comment, I'd be in jail by now!

If they don't like it, don't watch the show!

He won't get suspended. He's earning the BBC a LOT of money with Top Gear - unlike Wossy.

He's made worse comments before... its weird how these things suddenly become unacceptable... Rolling Eyes

Alright, alright.

But why does it even need to get published as "news" if it's so insignificant?

The Brand/Ross thing most people complained after the event. Wonder how many more people will jump on the band wagon.

It's totally different from Brand and Ross.

They didn't ring up the parents of one of the prostitutes and say that stuff, whereas Brand was directly abusive to Sax. I think people need to stop being quite so sensitive.

I bet my right bollock that there's more going on there than meets the eye anyway.

Personally I think Sax made the fuss he did to get his little girl into the public eye.

I think Russell Brand shouldn't be on TV, but only because he's a nob who annoys me, not because of his 'comments'. Celebrities are all canniving little fuckers anyway, and it annoys me that everyone seems to have something to say about an argument between three people no-one really gives a shit about anyway.

188 complaints vs. 6,999,999,812 people who thought it was hilarious and have got used to the fact that Clarkson purposely says things to rock the boat. Not even a fart in a hurricane.

I think the word "controversy" is much over used at the moment. I really can't think of why people would find Clarkson's comment offensive, it was obviously said in jest. If people are that sensitive to such quips then they shouldn't tune into watch Clarkson.

Yep - people keep getting over-excited about non-stories. People like you.

Clarkson gets complaints like this all the time, and the BBC doesn't care.

As Big Ham has pointed out, he didn't ring up any grieving relatives and make the joke, or tell them things that they didn't know about their daughters or granddaughters, so he isn't even playing the same game as that nudger Brand - let alone in the same league.

Thing is Top Queer is recorded so the producers/Directors know exactly what he has said before it gets on air. So why should Clarkson be punished for something they could have stopped.

As for people complaining . . . They must be the lowest of low to be sitting in front of a television just waiting for a sad pitiful excuse to ring some one up and cry about what someone has said.

The retards obviously don't know where the channel change button is on the remote control. Rolling Eyes

That's rather harsh Finglonga - especially when you consider how many people on these very forums whine about Clarkson hating bikes.

Personally, I found the comments pretty funny, but I can understand why a lorry driver who hasn't murdered any toms might find it a bit risque. I'd like to think I could laugh at myself and enjoy the joke in that situation - other people obviously cant, but that doesn't mean that they were sitting in front of the TV waiting to complain about ANYTHING, does it?

Thats a bit hypocritical is it not, you were getting pretty het up about the Brand/Ross thing.

While Brand and Ross were a wee bit nasty possibly bordering on distasteful (I still believe most of the outrage has its basis in nostalgia,) Clarkson was refering to a case were prostitutes were actually murdered by a lorry driver. (Steve Wright.) Presumably those prostitutes parents have grounds for feeling much more insulted than Andrew Sachs who's granddaughter is by all accounts is very much alive and not as pure as the driven snow in the first place herself.

Now what we'll witness is tens of thousands of drones viewing the clip on youtube and posting messages on an HYS board. The press will seize it (seeing £££ in increased circulation) citing the total number of comments posted as oppossed to the actual content and whether the poster was disgusted/not disgusted.

Surely, since while airing this got 188 complaints and the Brand/Ross thing got only 2, the repercussions will be far reaching??

Have people forgotten where the off switch is and not just for the telly either; for their over-developed sensitivity too.

Thumbs Up

FWIW the Bland/Woss thing was also pre-recorded.

Having watched the program Clarkson mentioned the murder prostitute thing once when they were standing around and twice when he was commenting how hard driving a lorry is...gears, gears, gears, mirror, murder prostitute, gears, gears, etc.*

IMO bit like saying a priest's job is difficult. You know the sort of thing...write sermon, do christening, choir practice, bugger alterboy, do wedding, visit bishop, etc...

Thumbs Up
