How much is it to add a category onto a full licence? I can't find it anywhere?

Above link for the costs.

As for the issue on the New Drivers Act, it seems that if you pass your 1st test to get any full licence (be it car, bike etc) you come under the 2 year rule with the 6 points.

If you have a Full Licence for a car and it's over 2 years on the date that you take another (Motorcycle / HGV / PSV) test to add to your licence the New Drivers Act does not apply. It only applies to those that do not have a Full Licence of any kind.

Yeah, I was thinking about it yesterday, and if you have a full car licence, and pass your test on a bike, you are simply adding a category to it........I wish they would make these things easier to understand. Rolling Eyes

Yeah tell me about it, I was s***ing bricks when I got nabbed by plod on the bike. I already had 3 points for speeding back in my boy-racer days *shudder* Now got another 3. So I have 6, Even asked at the police station and they couldn't give me a proper answer. But they were sure it was from the date I passed my driving test, which was in effect the day I got a full licence, regardless of categories.

Never knew how difficult it was to find something out! Crying or Very sad

Hi,

As far as I understand it, if you have a Full License (eg Car) then passing your bike test is simply adding another category (remember the test pass form? - you fill in the bit saying add a new category, not the one thats says applying for full license), therefore excluded from the new driver rule.

Hope this helps

Mark
