Insurance Claim......Time Scale?

i had an off last friday, my fault, so no third party to slow things down, reported to my ins co. (motorcycle direct) on monday. ins co have e-mailed details to MRVA who are supposed to contact me to arrange collection of bike and get work quoted and engineer to look at. i have heard nothing yet and still have damaged bike in my garage. my wife had a little car accident last year and her car was collected and finished within the week.

my question is: does anyone have any experience of the the claims process and how long i should expect each stage to take?

got mine back today after 2 months with 4th dimension in london. had a little of on roundabout, young girl in car pulled out in front of me and stopped, brakes full on and front end slide out didn't think their was much damage but what i couldn't see they did and they also xray the bike.

I had my bike written off in august this year by a guy u turning in front of me so it was a no fault claim.

I had a cheque for my bike in approx 1 month, but that was chasing them quite a bit.

As i claimed through my insurance Ive temproarily lost my no claims untill they can proove that the other guy was at fault and recover the money from his insurer. As soon as they have a liability statement from him ill get my no claims back - however cos he lives in ireland its taking forever. They have just now managed to obtain his details after almost 4 months so hopefully that should be resolved in the not to distant future.

And as for my personal injury claim - i seem to have the shittest solictor in the world whos making me fill in fors for the motor insurers bureau even though they have the guy registration number etc. so if i see anything back from that in the next year ill count myself lucky.

From my recent experience, the actual insurance side of things will be a lot quicker than the personal injury claim (if u decide to take one). Those things take the piss.

Well I have had 2.

First was on a rounabout I'm going straight across, a guy comes out of the first exit and hits me. You would think simple his fault. That has been on going since September 07. My Second happened in September 08 buy mid october I had a cheque, this was when I was in a bus lane (Legally) and a woman in road next to me turn left into me.

Why not contact the Co who are coming out and ask when they are coming.....
Use the excuse you need to get some time off work....

As to getting it all sorted. It will take as long as it takes.
Mostly depending on the amount of damage, if repairable, are the parts avaiable, has the garage got time to fix it.
If a write off, how quickly you can agree a price that suits you both.
