New bike gear changing noise

Just looking for a bit of advice.When im at a standstill and change into 1st gear to move away it make a loud clicking noise.Is this normal??????????

it makes less of a clunky noise if the revs are low, it's horrible if you blip the throttle then click it in.

i'm not entirely sure of the mechanics, but I beleive that in neutral half the box is rotating under engine power, when you clutch in it starts to spin down on its own, putting it into first forces the energy into the drive chain (through the spinning part engaging with the stationary part)., thus the noise.

Someone more mechanical will have to confirm if this is the case.
