Following on from this thread how many people actually kept to their dreams and aspirations for 2008? Reading the posts its quite funny to see what actually happened this year with more than a few others coming true.

Whosthedaddy wrote:
Track day.

Using the bike for commuting and needing it the next day would probably make me ride like a Rodney, but yes I will do a lap of Brands in 2008!!!!

It did take me until only a few weeks back, but I finally got the wallet out and took the bike to Brands for the day.

With the 7R sold but not forgotten and the Monkey SORN in the garage not really going to do any more biking aspirations this year, but in 2009 its all about Oz baby!

So for '09 its going to be:

Arrow Road bike.
Not sure what style yet, I suspect it will be a naked (or semi for that matter) or even an SM, Ill have to wait and see what the commute and roads are like first. I'm also still hoping for a 1000cc + machine.

Arrow 2nd bike
Been googling and found out that this is within an hours drive where we will be living, so need a bike to take here too.

https://www.silhouet.com/motorsport/tracks/mallala.jpg

Clicky

Looks like a nice track to get some experience on. Not sure if I'd want a sports 600 for it just yet, maybe a 2t bike like the RS would do or maybe a 400?

Arrow Get a completely different wardrobe
Not sure that leathers will be ideal in high temps, so have to start from scratch again, oh well, never mind. Laughing

I never got to Ireland with Keely, but I did have some fantastic solo camping trips around Scotland and England. I am planning some more next year and hopefully a European trip (depending on finances).

2008 has been a poor year indeed for Villers. I havent crashed this year so thats a plus but I sold the 636 and miss it dearly. Buying the Hayabusa cheered me up but the british weather completely pissed me off this year. Hope next year brings some better weather as I may have to sell up at the end of the summer to free up some capital.

Good luck to everyone for the forthcoming 12 months Thumbs Up

Well last year i wrote -
'to do some advanced training on a track, get my knee down and go to the nurburgring for my stag do '

I didnt do the advanced track trainingg, but i did do a trackday at Anglesey which was a top day.
I still havent got my kneedown, but to be honest i dont care really.
And i realised im nowhere good enough (or brave enough) to hit the 'ring yet. Laughing

For '09 i intend to -
Finish project lil' bitch and ride it to the rat and survival show.
Do at least 2 trackdays at Mallory and Donington.
Tour europe for a week in August, i'd like to see the ww2 battlefields in france.

Pass my test, get a big bike, get rid of the 125. All done.

For the next year I would like to reduce the amount of times that I fall off, particularly over winter.

Awww, I never actually posted on that thread. Sad

Nontheless I think mine were:

1. Get a cheap second bike and desecrate it with ammo tins ( Laughing )
2. More decent rideouts
3. More rallies

Did the first and third, second was a big fat fail. Thumbs Down

2009 -

1. Get the fucking slabby running.
2. Even MORE rallies Laughing
3. Tour Scotland and visit my mate in Inverness

2008 was a semi good year, did some time in holliday camp Iraq got enuff cash to put a good sized lump sum down on my appartment by the sea had enuff left over to buy a boat but had to spend it on buying my son out of prison.

2009 should see a boat and maybe a new bike and if my son gets nicked again tough luck he will have to cope with being a syrian sailors sex slave.

In 2009 I'll be starting my new job. And with the first big fat pay cheque I'll be getting either a B1h or an RR4/5. Then spend a fortnight touring England. See my mate in Soton, then down to Dawlish to see my uncle and go for a ride out with him and his new R1. Maybe spend a couple of days in Newquay and do a bit of surfing.

Rebuild the Superdream.

Would like to do a track day too.

2008 has been a bit of a shit year TBH. Lost three loved ones.

Was thinking "well, didn't really do much", but done an off road race and first 'bike tour' kinda thing. Unfortunately liked both, so want to do more. Also tried trials, though on a trail bike and decided that I would still like a trials bike.

Next year I'll hopefully do some more racing (and get back to at least the level I was mid-2006), as well as some more off-road. Hopefully swap my CRM for a trials bike and maybe try a 'proper' beginner trial - also hopefully do a bit of distance trail-touring style stuff.
Also, hopefully finally (yea right) sort my garage out a bit and sell some stuff.

Do more trackdays next year.
Slow down on the road, not worth going fast.
Get my R6 on the road, and don't bin it.
Go on a tour somewhere.
Buy a trackbike.

Didn't post in last years thread, but for '09:

Been planning a tour to Dubrovnik, passing through 9 countries. The plan is to see next years round of MotoGP at Brno and then a couple of laps of the 'Ring on the way home.

Business expansion plans may scupper most of the trip, but I should at least have enough time and money free to see the MotoGP.

Also want to do some off road riding next year.

Didnt post in last years thread aparently, but i know i didnt achieve what i was wanting to this year at all.

Next year i want to tour the UK (FINALY!) and pop across to France for at least a week! (Also if possible - not alone!)

I also want to make some kind of a name for myself on the racing scene in 2009.

Probably do a trackday aswell if funds allow.

I really need to go touring.

I'm owed a lot of holiday time, I've got the bike and the kit to do it, as well as a couple of friends who're thinking of a trip later on in the year, there's no reason not to really.

I'm also going to keep a look out for my CG125 replacement. Whether it be another CB400 of some description, a Ducati Monster, crosser or even another 125, I'm not quite sure. I might even buy a CBR125 as a piss take.

2008 has been a pretty good year for me. In the first few months of the year I covered the most miles on my XJ than I had collectively on the rest of my other bikes. After the chain ate the engine casing (Feb), I bought a brand new bike which was pretty exciting! Since March i've covered 8500 miles on the SV.
In that time i've found the joy of going fast round corners, wheelying, having duels with GSXRs on gorgeous and warm minor A roads, and of course a low speed off in the wet, much to the dismay of my lower fairings...
I think this year i've learnt more about riding technique than ever, and thanks to the new bike have performed the least remedial work in any given length of time.

In 2009 i'm planning a 3k mile tour of europe with my brother, who has a naked SV. I'd also like to be riding a new GSXR750 by mid-summer, but financially I can't see that happening.
I plan to do a few track days next year, and possibly buy a track bike, money permitting.

Apparently, last time I wrote:

Passed on first point, failed on second. This year? Maybe start going to some small rallies again, I miss them. If not rallies, then do more bike camping. Also, if I keep the CB, maybe finally get around to putting higher, more righteous (riteous?), bars on it.

I thought I'd try and get the wife on a bike, splashed out for a CBT for her 30th and first time on the Monkey in the back garden...

https://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v331/108/23/576716403/n576716403_913049_2129.jpg

She's been too scared to go and rebook it and said that she doesn't think that she could, not for a long time anyways.

Oh well, its just me on the open road and the wife in doors looking after the 2 kids then. Laughing
