OK, now this is a bit scary!

Me and the missus have been seeing each other for a good number of years, and have been engaged for most of them, but whenever we have tried to plan the wedding it has never gone well.

As both our families live a good distance apart, there has always been problems on who would be able to make it, and because of the work people do, we had never been able to find dates that we can get all of our family there.

So... We've decided to get married when we are on holiday. Smile

In Florida!!!! Very Happy

in just over a week!!!! Mr. Green

We only decided to do this on Tuesday. Already we have my outfit, her dress and shoes and stuff, rings, pretty much everything!!! Whoever said it takes nearly a year to plan a wedding was talking out their arse. We've everything ready in less than 2 days!!

Still, a bit scary though. I think our folks might blow their nut when we tell them. That's why we're waiting until after it's all done to break the news! One hassle free wedding, followed by the afternoon going round Disney in full wedding outfits!

I just can't wait to get out there now! Mr. Green

Well done, though I have to wonder why you put it off for other people in the past.

YOUR wedding day should be planned to suit YOU and if people want to go to YOUR wedding then they plan arround the dates for YOUR wedding Wink

Agree with Kwaker6, you should never plan your wedding day around other people. Nothing is ever important enough to get in the way of it if you are important to them.

I'm not sure i'd be up for getting married without my close family present, but then i'm quite traditional really. But kudos to you for organising it so quick. I don't even know where to start, all I know is that Shell wants a really expensive dress. Crying or Very sad

As everyone has said its your wedding and your special day for you. My mum said if i got married to feck off to somewhere and come back and she would have a party somewhere. It will be cheaper! weddings are not cheap and I hate this having to pay for everyone to eat on your day, should be the other way around.

congratulations! and as usual I demand pics of the event.

We were like Jon, and wanted the traditional thing with all the family there, but it was just not working out, so We've gone for the "This is our day" approach. My sister, her husband, and their two kids will be there as we are all going away together. Out of all of my family they are the people I'm closest to, so I'm really chuffed about how this is working out!

How do you turn a fox into a hippo?
Marry her.

Don't do it, it will all end in tears and an empty wallet. As soon as they get thet ring on their finger they change........ big style........ no shagging, no bj, no rear action, just hate and fat.

Run away as fast as you can.

congratz mate. you seem very happy and some reason even it brought a smile to my face. i hope you have a great wedding and honeymoon, an even better marriage and well a brilliant time for the rest of your lives really.

if you get into arguments then try to do whtever you can to calm down and never walk out on your wife for more than a night.

cheers guys. I'm just surprised that I'm not nervous and worried in the slightest, just stupidly excited!

I can see us having some very strange wedding photos taken in the park! I've a feeling the reactions we get will be quite funny!

Congrats Thumbs Up
sounds great.
If your parents get a bit aggy..just blame it on the credit crunch and say it'll be cheaper to marry abroad.

I'm getting married on Nov 29th - and i'm planning my wedding now (i've just started). I envy you that you've managed to sort out everything in 2 days. So far, my schedule is packed with appointments with photographers, hair and makeup artists, car hire and wedding dress fitting.
Sometimes, I wish I could just jet off in style like you and not worry about everyone else!

Photo's of the wedding please Very Happy

This will be our first time in Florida, even first time to the US. It's just going to be a quickie wedding at the Orange County court house. There's not really been time to arrange anything else, and a proper Disney weding starts off at around $5,000, so that is right out. Neither of us are overly bothered about the ceramony itself, just the outcome really!

My sister who we are going with called yesterday to say that on our wedding night she has booked us into the Lake Buena Vist Hilton Wedding room in the tower, which looks fantastic!!

Everything has now been delivered, so we have everything, dress, rings, the works!

Not sure about the whole dresing as characters rather than wedding outfits, that would be more like becoming staff than married!

I'll put pictures up when we get them, we'll obviously take a load, but I know there are staff members who take stack of pics, which you can get transfered to CD, so we'll be doing that as well. I've a feeling they'll take a few of us with the wedding outfits on!

The other person we've told / asked for advice is our holiday rep (The virgin rep calls you a few times before you arrive) and she has said that she is going to meet up with the wedding planner and she what she can arrange! Free upgrades FTW!!!
