Right, I'm really starting to go out of my head here.

Job searching takes maybe an hour a day. I have no money to get out, the bikes running a bit crap and I've no money to sort it out and now...

Anything else you guys can think to fill the days besides suicidal ideation?

Been unemployed since fireworks night

I'm at that wonderful stage where I want to give up, but theres physically no where to give up to (ie quitting, leaving etc). So I'm past quitting... doing the same thing

I was unemployed for about 3 months a few years back and that drove me nuts. I got quite down.
There is only so much cleaning you can do. I could have shopped, but was completely broke, so know what you mean there.
One thing I did do was put my cv all over the net, that took a fair chunk of time each day. I also did cross stitch Do you enjoy exercise or anything? That can be quite addictive I hear from people

I walked my dog a lot. Maybe set up a dog walking business! Hoorah!! Cash and something to do

Job searching taking an hour is rubbish mate.


The search lasts till you get a job, my missus proved this with me.

She quit her job last Friday after being there nearly five years as they would no offer her flexi time after returning from maternity leave.

The following monday she went out and entered loads of different places asking for work, the same day she got an interview at an estate agents, she starts soon.


So I stepped up my search which has lasted since before christmas, I took the same approach as her last week and bingo bango I start my new 300 quid a week job tomorrow.

Happy days indeed. If you are bored due to unemployment then spend 4 hours a day looking for a job instead of an hour.

What jobs are you looking for?

Whle it's not the most well paid job bar jobs always have a high turnover and can be fun to work in

I'm leaving my current place, went into Wycombe earlier and already have an interview at 3 different places...

Like I said. It's not the bets hours/money but it's better than nothing. Almost like a paid night out without the drinking (and drugs )

I'm in a similar position Bonny.

It's mind numbingly boring, I spam my CV, get a few phone calls that amount to nothing and there's only so long you can wank for.

I always thought it'd be easy to grab another job but there isn't even any temp work about. After a post I made last night I was up until 5am writing a 5 minute set based around fish which I can't use because I'm so skint that going to manchester for a gig would rape my wallet.

I've had interviews but there's so much competition for jobs at the moment it's hard, I've got years of experience but always get pipped for some trivial reason even though I always get positive feedback for how well I interview.

It's bollocks.

i agree. the best way to find a job is to go door to door. you might get paid crap or cash in hand but atleast it's something to stop the boredom. if it's the money you want then it will be very hard

'guv is actually right, door to door searching is hard work, can be massively soul destroying unless you have an ego of granite (something you purport to have, so no worries there) and is generally shite but we're a fair way off "gissa job" yet I reckon and more importantly than any of the above if you really want to work then there will be something around.

From seeing your comments in this thread and others I'd reached the conclusion you had already passed the point of being fussy and just wanted an income. My point has nothing to do with "long term" or "career", simply the neccessity of paying the bills.

I got laid off from my main job a few months back. After an hour or so of being a headless chicken the need to pay the mortgage focussed the mind wonderfully, now if a guy with a fucked spine who has trouble walking most days can find ways of generating an income then it must be possible as an able bodied young male. Am I secure? Hell no, but I'm paying my way.

Not trying to dig at you, just trying to put across that there will be some sort of work/income there that you're missing and it'll probably be obvious once you see it.

Good luck with the five grand, is that toward your internship?
