Ok, i was really annoyed today but not sure if i should be or not.
Anyway, back 3 days ago on my way home from my mum bike suddently became quite jerky for no reason on slow speeds, below 30. This was durring my fuel light coming on so i though that i am meters away from running out of petrol, even gsxr reserve tank is 40miles and i'we done not more then 5-6... Refueling didn't help to sort the problem. Next day i decided to go for a ride and i completely forgot that i had this problem, so as i went bike was jerky again so i took it to a garage. Mechanic had a quick ride on my bike and said its slow on the start and jerky, must be spark plugs so i ordered them and had them fitted next day (This was chief mechanic of the place so he should know this stuff). After new spark plugs fitted bike was just fine, so i been riding around on Saturday and parked up for a night, lazy me didn't bother putting cover on the bike and it was raining durring the night. So there we go again today i start the bike and revving it was clear that engine didn't rev properly and quite slowly like its was really cold but i start riding normally when temperature hits 50 and usually its fine but not this time. So i was riding around really pissed off with life for 20minutes with all this jerkiness and temperature was around 70-80. Then i decided to give it few high revs so i rev tits out of it and after i hit 40 all jerkiness is gone... And just as i sit in traffic bike temperature starts to increase to 90-100, bike becomes less jerky and by the time i get home temperature is around 105/110 and all jerkiness is pretty much gone...
What kind of problem is this?
Was mechanic just taking a piss and he knew about the problem but wanted some extra money?
My best guess is that rain have something to do with this but this didn't happen before even when it was raining... I am still not sure if problem is gone or not, i'll have to start the bike up tomorrow and see, and i did put cover over it for tonight.
Hope this make sense, advice needed ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

What advice do you want? Its a fueling/ignition problem that goes away when the bike is warm. You could try spraying the HT leads with WD40 or igniton sealer to see if it helps.
Is the bike FI or carb? ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |

''chief mechanic'' means fuck all
mechanics are scum.
probably the ''chief of false diagnosis to get more money''
is the bike ok if just left to idle? what about riding along below 4000rpm?
if so, you've probably got a blockage somewhere in the fuel line, i had a simiar problem... turned out when i put my tank back on, i didnt attach the fuel line properly, meaning the stopcock didnt open, allowing full flow of fuel.
another thing... like i said before, but you disregarded in a ''knowitall fasion'', was that it could have a fucked fuel pump.
i know mine needs a new one, as when i get to reserve, my bike acts like this after a few miles, but then again, when i had the pump out, i did drop it new one on its way though
so yeah...
good luck ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. In summery, mattsprattuk is a gobby little sh1tebag, dopehead tw4t, but sadly for all of us, he probably isn't THAT full of sh1te!!

Gonna see what happens tommorow when i start the bike from cold... I really don't wanna go back to this garadge as those trips can be quite expensive with all the ripoffs which are going around there... ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

I'll be happy if that's the case, at least now i will stop being lazy fuck and use bike cover more often... But i have a worry that one of the cylinders might be failing, just a theory but i will update on this soon. ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

Ok, here is the update, just been for a ride:
Bike is fine now, very smooth, revs properly blablabla so i thought i'll make a trip to a garage and ask the guy why this happened. Chief Mechanic wasn't there but i told the story to a younger guy who was on shift when my bike got new spark plugs... He said that when they have been doing the spark plugs the caps looked corroded and that must be the problem... So i say ok, bike is fine for now and i'll try to keep it off the rain but if i want job done how much would this be, he said 45quid labour + caps which are more expensive then it sounds he said...
Sounds to me like they are creating work for themselves
How much would the spark plug caps cost for gsxr600 ? ____________________ Theory Passed: 23/10/2008 49/74 Bike Test Passed: 05/01/2009 1 minor

just so you're sure...
fuel light comes on and flashes when you hit reserve... you have around 40 miles from this point.
around 20 miles later, the light stays on constantly, meaning you have about 20 more miles before you're going to stop.
if thats not roughly right then somethings up.
unfortunatly, SRADs have stick coils, not plug caps. they're expensive, and you need 4 of them.
however, the mechanic seems to be trying to charge you a full hours labour to fit them, when its half that to replace stick coils. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles.
