My bro's first bike 09 ninja 250

Well he finally found the Ninja 250 in the colour he wanted and is picking it up some time next week.

Tried to convince him on a 6rr for half the price but this is the bike he has wanted for a year now.

This bike is not a good value for money, it could be a fun bike to have i suppose. So basically if money is not a problem then buy whatever your heart tell you to.

I stick by my eariler comment.

$3,500 is far too much money for a 16 year old to have available to spend on a motorbike. He should be forced to have a cheap bike which breaks down a lot.

It will build character and stop him turning out too american.

I couldnt care if its a push bike with a hamster wheel for power, if he wanted it and had the cash then good luck to him! Good to see he doesn't blindly follow his brother and buy anything with GSXR written on the side.....

I have the 08 Model of that bike (same bike) and sure all you experienced riders may hate it, because of the lack of power and whatnot. But it is a nice bike for the inexperienced.
Its very light and easy to control, very forgiving. I've never ridden anything bigger so I can't compare but I can say I'm enjoying the bike I have.
I had no riding or road experience prior to my 5 day DAS and I'm not the most confident person on the road and this bike is perfect for that. The power is very linear so you always know what to expect. I keep seeing thread where people have just bought race rep 600's/1000's as their first bike and replies like "Just keep it under 5k rpm's and you'll be fine", because presumably they take off like a rocket with anymore revs... well theres none of that with the ninja 250r.

The bike is aimed for new riders, and it is a very good bike for them.

mcgee clearly said he was trying to persuade his brother to get a 600 and his brother has opted for the 250 because its the bike he wanted. Now TO ME, that DOESNT strike me as "let me get the fastest and most expensive possible bike to look cool in front of all my mates"

if your brother wanted it and saved up long and hard for it then so be it. like many things you buy new, you can get bored or regret it, but it is our choice at the end of the day. i've been stuck on a 125 for a while now and only planned to have the 125 until i did my full bike test. the rs 125 was enough to keep me happy and i havent passed my test yet. maybe your brother will like it enough to keep or maybe he will sell it on and lose a lot of money but i hope he enjoys it whatever.
