As long as you have his card too, it will work.

And you would have to ring sky to pair your card to his box and then back to your own.

Aye, we'd be using his card. I was wondering if the lnb or cabelling was different.

As for the phone line, I got multi room fitted about 10 months ago and it's never been plugged into the phone line. Sky haven't called me about it either.

Ive got multiroom too, wasnt fitted with a phone line when we got it just before last christmas.

3 months ago I got a letter telling me to plug it in and outlining the terms and conditions which stated the multiroom box had to be tapped into the phone line. Threatened me with paying two subscriptions if it didnt happen. I got two more letters after that, the second one basically said fair enough we will just charge you then.

I've never had my sky box plugged into a phone line. I installed it myself, but I've never heard anything about it from Sky! Thumbs Up

They only stipulate it when using one of their deals, like taking up multi-room with free installation, or a half price Sky+ box etc.

Thumbs Up

We have Sky HD in the front room (got that for £75 or whatever) and i have Sky + in my bedroom (via sky multiroom) and the only time they were plugged into the phone line was when the sky man plugged it in to set it up. Not long after he left, mine was unplugged and the wire tidied into the corner (Was really pissing me off)

As far as i know, we haven't had anything through the post regarding it (however, it is under my dads name and i don't exactly snoop through his post)

Sky HD uses 2 lnb cconnections where as SD uses 1.
Your sky dish will only have 1 lnb in use so you'd need to run another cable to the dish

He has Sky Plus, which if I remember correctly uses 2 LNB's itself so you can record one thing whilst watching another. There may not be noticably 2 LNB's on your dish though, they are usually one unit containing multiple LNB's, quite often Quad LNB's are used.

Sky+ uses 2 also. It is standard practice for sky engineers to fit a quad to allow for multi-room with sky+

1. Yes, that and a new LNB. Probably a quad one (4 outputs)
2. Yes it will work with one cable just as you say.
2a. You can buy quad LNBs from ebay for about 10 quid. very easy to change. new cable is relatively cheap to.
3. Yeah, you can do it yourself. not sure if you have to tell sky you want Sky + before you will be able to record anything. You certainly used to when they charged an extra 10 quid for it.

Thumbs Up

When I used to work for them a couple years ago, They contract stated that any box must be plugged in, not just ones on special offer etc.

FFS. Sky+ uses TWO feeds so you can watch one channel and record another. Why do people give advice when they're not sure on what they're saying?

Ok ladies, time for the hand bags to go back in the wardrobe. Laughing

We tried his card in my box yesterday, all the normal channels worked but his movies and sports didn't show up, is this the norm for Sky now ?

When my new tv arrives we'll try his box and see how it goes.

To get all his packages you would need to ring Sky to pair his card to your box. Otherwise you just get freeview channels.

Best bet would be his card in his box. Thumbs Up

It's only something that's going to happen once in a while, I didn't realise that you had to register his card though. I remember taking my card ( a few years ago ) elsewhere with no problems.
