Hi, i'm trying to help a friend who runs his own business out, basically some numpty customer of his registered the domain for his business last year and was hosting his website.

At the time it seemed like he was doing him a favour but this bloke has dissapeared of the face of the earth and has let the domain for the site expire.

I've been trying to register it seeing as it's expired but it's showing up as taken in all the registrars i try and use.

When i do a whois it's showing up as being registered to him but is saying it's expired? Does anybody know how long it will stay locked to him after it has expired? I really wanna help him get this sorted because he's got this domain registered at yell.co.uk and is losing customers because the site is down.

Any pointers would be helpful.

Cheers

Tell him to contact Nominet and explain the situation.

I think i will do, because from what i can gather the domain will be suspended for 99 days which is a bit of a pain in the backside!

Cheers

£12 to Nominet I think it is and as long as you can prove ownership they will move it to a registrar of your choice.

Either that or contact the current registrar and see if they will move it to a different account holder. If so just creat an account with that registrar and then renew it.
