Uh oh, a tyre thread

Sorry, but I'm a newbie.

I've got my heart set on a small capacity scrambler - probably end up getting an XR125 or XT, to replace my CG last year (which I sorely miss).

Now, I'm not planning any great trail riding adventures just yet, but may have the option to do so having a relatively soft off roader.

I haven't a clue when it comes to off road tyres.

So what would you recomend if you were to run a bike that spends most of its life on road (around town, unclassified and b-roads), but with the possibility of the odd offroad jaunt (light mud, gravel, etc).

Any good for what I'm looking to use the bike for?

I'd go for a second set of rims if I could. Especially for the novice dirty-rider, doing muddy lanes on tyres good for the road is often a little unsettling as it can get very slidey.

MT43 is a soft trials tyre and will wear quite quickly. I'd be looking at a set of MT21 tyres.

Id go with G if you have the money..

I had the distanzia's, but im not sure can get them for the small width of a 125 tyre??

I put a trailwing on the rear of my KLR250. Was fine on both road and light off-road.

It munched through a proper rear nobbly in about 500miles on road.

The Pirellis seem fine for the use the bike's getting so far, but today's run showed me other places where I'd like to go - thanks for the info, I'll be looking into a second set of wheels soon.
