I'm in the Croydon area, miss my old mountain bike and I'm getting...time to get off my lazy arse methinks!
V-brakes as a minimum and I don't really like cable disk brakes as the ones I've used are rubbish!
Ideally in good condition and not likely to snap if I tumble into a tree. I want hard-tail as rear suspension is not needed and the cheaper (under £1000) units are too heavy anyway.
Damn I miss scabs... Twisted Evil

Shame you want a hard tail, I've got a GT I-Drive 4.0 which only covered a few hundred miles last summer and has always been stored indoors.

Maybe I should put that up in a thread...

I'd consider it as it's a good make, I'll look up the specs on the web. What kinda price were you thinking?

I've got it on contract sale with a local bike shop at £495, but open to offers from BCF members Thumbs Up

Its got the original Roc Shox Judy fronts and Fox Shox gas rear. I brought it at the beginning of last year, didn't take it spring when it was used to cycle to work. I moved up here before summer (when I was planning on trailing with it), and there is no where nice to cycle round here.

If you're interested I'll get some photographs taken of it for you to take a peek at. I found it nice and light (compared to my previous RidgeBack MrSilver). Its only V-Brakes, I was going to have hydrolic discs fitted, but when we worked out the cost of rims, barrels, discs and lines it was too expensive for me at the time. So apart from the wireless cycle computer, and the Cat Eye front and rear lights, it's all standard.

I was thinking of a little less than that to get me fit...then when I've got the money I'll buy a more serious bike.
I might get a racer - complete end of the spectrum but i've never had one and wanna get some speed camera's flashing! I used to set one off every day on my way home from high school. Laughing

Yeah, probably a good idea.
I might just read a bike shop's T's and C's very carefully and get any old shite bike and if it breaks then I can complain and get it fixed.

I have a orange UFO bike cost over a 1000 new, been left in garden decaying. £100 and its yours.

needs 1 bolt dilling and replacing (not a big job) some oil and its good 2 go.

Um off the top of my head.

D521 ceramic rear wheel, Big mammoth front wheel.

Xvert-t forks (triples) worth over 200 new.

Azonic triple wall bars.

This really is a bargain, even if you dont want a full suspension as the rest of the parts are easily worth 100.
