I doubt it.
Otherwise moped riders at 16 would be breaking the law every time they fill up.
Some of this asking for ID business pisses me off. I was shopping with my niece last week and the idiot serving her asked whether she was over 16 becuase she was buying a puncture repair kit for her fucking kiddies bike that I was going to fix for her. It had a paltry tube of glue. She's 7, dresses mostly in girly pink. She ain't going to be sniffing glue any time soon. She wasn't even buying it, I was, but she was doing the whole pretending to buy thing thatr kids love.
I lost my rag, to be honest, becuase this idiot embarrassed her in front of other customers over nothing. I just moved it into my basket. I mean, what did it achieve asking her for ID and making her feel uncomfortable?
Jobsworth really piss me offf. I mean if people are buying replica guns, sure, get ID - but I've heard of pensioners being asked for id when buying gin. These idiots seem to pick on easy targets whilst the cider youths are happily knifing each other all around us. ____________________ no regrets, no retreat, no apology.

I think its covering strategy tbh , in that in supermarkets the cashiers ask to cover themselves as they are personally liable if in case they do inadvertantly sell. I don't consider them to be jobs worths if they are under orders to do this.
Myself working in accounts used to have to comply with an enourmous number of anti money laundering procedures which insulted people who had been clients to the firm for 50+ years, the government made my bosses comply , my bosses made me comply. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. Poundland has just opened in Banbury, which isn't actually that bad, they do decent name brand stuff really cheap in amongst all the crap.
However I went there the other day and they wouldn't sell my 19 year old mate rizlas because you need to be 21 in there apparently
Also more and more clubs seem to be going 21+, which is wierd because if they don't like the look of you a bit they tell you to fuck off anyways ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

They would have to be 14 to be refused. ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

Seen stuff on tv etc about 9 year olds addicted to glue-sniffing. Certainly, a long time ago, seen kids younger than that trying to do drugs, etc.
Do you know what the fine is for a cashier selling glue to an underage person? Suspect it could be quite nasty if they were caught by a council official or whatever, along with official disciplinarians etc. Seems quite reasonable they take steps to avoid that.
I can remember at 14 taking my mate the same age as me, but much younger looking than me to a pub after a boxing class for a beer. No problems with me buying it.
I have actually been asked for ID one or two times in the last few years. I've just looked at them and said 'Seriously?' and they've let me in - though not sure that's a good thing! |

I had a similar problem at a texaco garage. Its down my road and I go there all the time, just this time there was someone new behind the counter.
As usual - I ride in, get off, fill up without taking off my helmet (they used to ask me because they do get alot of thefts there, but over time they got used to me and remembered my bike).
Went in, everything was nice and fine till I pulled out my card. I was accused of being 15..on a sv650..
I didnt have my ID either, and he started getting arsey saying he wouldnt accept payment because I had no ID. Extremely awkward, I cant leave to go get my ID as he will call the cops with my number plate, and he wont let me pay. Wtf am I meant do?
Luckily after 5 mins of arguing and manager came out to see what all the commotion was about, took one look at me, one look at my bike and told the guy to stop fucking around.
Never saw that guy in there again... ____________________ Children in the back of cars cause accidents : Accidents in the back of cars cause children

I think they ask everyone... I've had it (the question, mind out of the gutter) in Morrison's and ASDA.
There was also a case my missus told me about - some 80-something guy was refused fags because he had no ID to prove his age, apparently. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Currently bikeless

If one were a conspiracy theorist, one might suggest that all this ID overkill is to pave the way for the introduction of compulsory ID cards...
