hi

can anyone help on my yamaha sr125.

i had a import wich the gears was all down now i have got the yamaha sr 125 wich i was riding the other day and for sum reason i downgeared it by mistake as i was used to goin down for the next gear i was in 3rd an droped it into second an there started a really loud sort of high pitch tappin.

the bike still runs sweet as a nut no probs there but when i throttle it the tapping is there an to ride it is absolutly gutless the flatout i can reach 40mph nothing more.


any ideas????

Id say check your tappets, I have an sr125 and they seem to be made of cheese and flatten whenever my sons been out on it. Hes terrible for changing down like that and it flattens the inlet tappet so the valve doesnt open as far.

By the way if you need to know clearances or anything like that i have a haynes manual here and will happily look it up for you if you pm me

i can get hold of a haynes manual but how hard is it to change a tappet i had a look this mornin an took the back cover off the engine well both the front looks fine but the back is not there its jus hanging if u kno wot i mean as i deont really kno much about bike engines.

i think i found it out i need to figure out where the bolt has gone its for one of the valves behind the little covers on the top but front an bak of the engine ther is like a spring in there an ubove that is the tappet wich that needs to b set with the nut bolt thing but that is missing thanks again
