How about a R1?

Picked up my new bike yesterday after a 720ish mile round trip from Essex to Scotland and back!

It was going fairly cheap and i thought it looked the part! Certainly stands out i think! Not the cleanest up close but dont think you get get a road worthy R1 for less? On the advert it said "very good condition" it wasnt so i got some more of the price.

24k miles, the usual useful/pointless mods. (Micron can, tinted screen, tail tidy, indicators, alarm/immob) Also got some extras like cleaning stuff and a scotoiler Confused

Passed its MOT the day before i picked her up. New rear pads, front look fairly new, tyres are hardly worn, chain and sprockets are fairly new. Shouldnt need any more spending on her for a while!

Some pics, only phone quality though...

Loaded and secure:

Is the power really that much different? I ride with Mike. He's got a 636. And there really isnt much in it between the 636 and my TLR.

And I don't really have that much of a problem keeping up with R1s.

Not talking about top speed runs by the way.

What paint scheme is that? 2000 Yamaha Chesterfield 250GP Nakano/Jacques scheme?

Granted the round trip from Scotland to Essex sounds like a mission but was the juice worth the squeeze? Whereabouts in scotland did you fetch the bike from?

I suppose the best thing about any sort of big bore IL4 is the fact that you can pin it in 3rd and hold on tight!

I was just thinking this recently... how many 20-25 year old BCFers have recently purchased big bore sportsbikes??? There seems to be a trend with a fair few moving onto a whole assortment of Milles/SP's/TL's etcs.

a 636 wont have many bhp Less than a TL1000R

A TL1000R should be making between 117-123 depending on exhausts dyno etc, this should be around the same for most big twins with the exception of the newer ones like the 2006+ RSVR and the later 999's and of course a 1098.

A 636 will probably make about 5-10 less RWBHP, however in terms of accessable power, which is more nessacery for road riding a TLR has it in the bag.

I believe the earlier R1 models made around 133-140ish RWBHP
