i got a cpi supermoto 50 totally standard except from i have added a slighty bigger jet and changed the sprockets because the old ones were part of the restriction, the bike tops out at 45-47mph, i have been told that i should get a race exhaust because the stock cpi exhausts are still restricted inside the expansion chamber, a racing air filter and jets to suit, i have also been told by a different person a racing exhaust and a bigger carb(you get a racing filter with the carb) will make it a bit quicker but my dad sed that a bigger carb will over fuel it and damage the engine somehow, is any of this right and do any of you have any suggestions to make it a bit quicker, i know its only a 50cc but i only want a extra 10mph or so

if it helps im running 13 front and 52 rear sprockets

or

dont get a K&N filter, there pretty naff actully.

get a decent exhaust and upjet the carb, 13t sprocket should be enough, put a 14 on if you want more top speed and slower acceleration.

putting a bigger carb on, with a restricted exhaust and standard cylinder isnt a good idea, and unless you set it up rather well, probly wouldnt run anyway. Thumbs Up

i dont want to fit a big bore kit because im only on a cbt and they do actually pull us over and check the bike over up here and i dont want to chance getin done for no licence or insurance when i actually do have one, do you think a decent exhaust, perfect or nearly perfect jetting and maybe a set of racing reeds and block will do much and i hear that all the aftermarket airfilters (k&n, doppler etc) suck water when it rains and make the bike run very bad but i have found two doppler filters that probs wont suck water if i position them properly, what do you think

Your licence restricts you to 30mph anyway...

yes but i think its a bit easier to tell that the bike goes quicker when its got a big bore kit etc and also that will void my warranty where if i just add the pipe etc i can remove them and refit the stockers for warranty repairs, also i dont want to spend stupid money on my 50cc when its gonna be gone by the end of the year when i go for my a2 licence

Drilling holes in the airbox just lets more air pass through it, having the same effects as a K&N filter.

if you ha ve a supermoto bike with an open K&N filter, if rain goes on it, it will ovbs be sucked into the engine.

i wouldnt bother with the reeds/block personaly, as there quite sensitive, dont think they make that much differnce anyway.

personaly, if it was my bike...

i would get a race exhaust (any aslong as its a straight through pipe(
put a bigger front sprocket on by 1 size, and upjet the carb about 4 sizes than the one thats in.

Following you down the road at anything over 30mph is a bit of a giveaway that it is no longer a moped and is now a motorbike.

Get a exhaust,go for an arrow or jolimoto. With the standard exhaust you have progresive speed, with a race exhaust the engine will stay reved even if you change a gear up.As long as you don`t have electric restrictors don`t bother.Get a bigger sprocket 14 tooth like hutchyrs said.Buy a box of jets.Get a 21 mm carb.buy few spark plugs if it runs well after you jet it take the spark plug out,see how it is like.If it runs fast don`t be fooled it could run lean or rich.I think it should do a top speed about 60.In my opinion nearly 50 mph it is fine.Don`t mess up with a 50cc.The bigger the tuning is the more unreliable will be.I used to change rings every 2000 miles with my rs.Also you don`t have to change the crankshaft if you are planning to keep the standard cylinder.Don`t go for a big bore, you will regret it.Keep the standard airbox, don`t go for fuckin` k&n faho&fahf. The best performance is the standard one.Good luck

yes that is the cpi derestriction kit, so is there no way that a properly jetted 21mm carb will harm my engine or its reliability with out a big bore cylinder kit etc

Depends a 21mm carb still not jetted and oil pump compensated for the more fuel will damage your engine, badly.

Reeds are the same
your playing with the air-fuel mix which is as bad as the carb
and could still blow it up if you give it too much air making it run lean.

Changing the exhaust but leaving the carb as standard is whats likely to blow it up in the first place, i would at least advise changing for a bigger main jet, the exhaust manufacturer should be able to advise of or provide the correct size Thumbs Up
