 |
|
Hi
I recently had both my bikes stolen outside my flat (SV1000 CBR600). Thus losing all 7 years of NCB .
Anyway I've decided to move house (with a garage) but want to know if there are any ways to reduce your premium.
There are the obvious ones:
Garage
Alarm
TPO/TPFT instead of Fully Comp
Lower Insurance group
Low annual milage
Dont take pillions
Is there anything else I can do to help get my premium down.
Currently looking at CB 1300's which are group 13 i belive. Quotes are around £700 TPFT.
I'm 24 BTW
Luke

Doh. Older bike makes a difference - even of the same model... ten years difference was about half the price. Just get a cheap SV650 and go TPO .
Didn't know your bike did get nicked ... did you get a pay-out on both? |

You could try increasing your excess up to a ridiculous level. £500 voluntary for instance.
Also, you could declare it as datatagged / smartwatered. Ground anchor inside the garage would help.
AFAIC shop around for the insurance. Simply insurance were an excellent quote for me. E-Bike do monthly policies which will give you 1 year NCB for 8 months premium.
I keep mine in the garage but don't even take the key out. I'm quite lucky in that it's a pleasure thing rather that a commuter or necessity. I never even take a disclock out with me as I never have to leave the bike anywhere
Best of luck but prepare to part with the pounds
BTW. I often find that TPFT is cheaper than TPO. I think it's because they believe you care for your bike more by insuring it higher.

Cheers for the replys guys. I'll search around as much as possible. I think my CBR6 insurance was £300 fully comp .
On a side note, CB1300; anyone owned one?
I was looking through biketrader/ebay and it was the only bike I went all gooey inside for .
I've always liked them, they make me go phorrrr. I used to have a bandit 6 which I think has about 70bhp and it was quick enough.
