Well, it was always in the back of my off-roading head (thread ressurection) and last weekend I 'did' the Gap Road and Sarn Helen!! Didn't make the Strata Florida as we stayed in Brecon, but I can save that for a less rainy weekend.

Absolutely awesome is all I can say! Cool The terrain is tricky, the lanes are really long and I cannot believe that I made it and came back alive, undamaged and with the bike in one piece too! I'm afraid that the thread will be 'useless without pics' as I didn't have the chance to take any - pouring with rain and I was in no state to stop and take any anyway!

Off there again in April, so I get to have another bash (not Gap Road as closed by then)!! Confused

Anyone else been, recommend any other lanes in and around the area?

You forgot to mention the best part about the lanes in wales .... no ruts Cool

............that'll be because we managed to find mega muddy ones that we all had great fun getting through! Rolling Eyes The ones who witnessed the muddy, roostering carnage had the advantage as they then headed for higher ground!! One guy could barely be seen for mud, as he'd pulled up neatly behind the guy in front who was stuck, cue back wheel spinning........poor chap!! Shocked

We're going again end of April and apparently we may even tackle the Strata Florida this time, as we're closer. Need a 12 hour window of dry weather, else we'll be snorkelling our way through!!

Enjoy yourself Wheely!! Thumbs Up

Yeah right ! Last time we went we had all 4 seasons in the one weekend. Warm and sunny / rain / we then had a little bit of snow at one point. Also one of the lanes had loads of orange leaves laying on the ground like autumn ??

You enjoy yourself too Thumbs Up

Had another awesome trip - 3 days in total. First day Sarn Helen and around the Brecon area repeating some of the lanes we had done last time. Second day up to Rhayader, Strata Florida and Dam and third day was a half day and the 'Big Hill' - I dipped out of riding this one and became official photographer Shocked

We certainly had a large window of good weather prior to tackling the Strata Florida with weeks of fine weather. It rained a bit on the final morning, but on the whole it helped a bit, as it was pretty dusty on the first two days!
