Not seriously considering buying this particular bike right now, but is it a "good deal" and what is the bike like if anyone knows?
Just looks nice, sounds cheap-ish for the dealership it is being sold at and is only £50 more expensive than my insurance on my 125 (although that was an online qoute not a phone qoute, but I'm sure if it is higher, I could ask for Danny's services :>)

Suzuki GS 500E
RED, (M)94, Full fairing, Alphadot, Located In Exeter, £1499

So yeah, anyone have any experience with these? any advice/criticism on the bike/price etc, because after my test I'm thinknig one of these. Smile

Don't know about the techy stuff, but i nearly bought one, I looked at a 98 'S' reg, and that was only £1300, your's seems expensive to me, so look around. Mind you I've just noticed your's is faired, the one I looked at wasn't. My das bike is a gs500, personally i find it smooth, fairly responsive (compared to my 125 Laughing Laughing ) not heavy, nothing exciting and most of all UNCOMFORTABLE!!! This is just my opinion however and only based on four hours of riding it! My insurance was/is £135 on my W-reg 2000 Gilera Coguar 125, and I've bought a T-reg 1999 Suzuki gsf600 'N' Bandit (both 3PFT), my insurance for when I pass (hopefully on 22nd June) goes up to £180, and I think the Bandit is LOADS better, hth Thumbs Up

For an M Reg that is on the high side, unless the condition is exceptional and it has mega low miles, Then again I paid £1100 for a H Reg GS500 2 years ago and that was a minter, so you get what you pay for.

Btw the GS500E is a great bike for a new rider, its fast enough for most (115MPH on a good day) I find mine comfortable, i get brilliant fuel economy (about 150 miles per tankfull - I could get more but I ride fast) there cheap to service (£100 was my last service) cheap to insure (im 20yo and it costs me £317 TPFT) all in all a good competent bike.

So I rolled on down to the dealership today, asked to look at it, but it was buried deep in their storage, I am going back on wednesday when they will have it out and I can sit on it, and get a feel for it.

Now the salesman said to me (and this guy sold me my first bike, and he was spot on with all his advice etc) that it is in excellent condition, or they wouldn't sell it, with older more knackered bikes they get in part exchange, they won't sell them on without a lot of work, but he said from looking at it he can see no marks on it at all, the fairing and enginge everything is un-damaged, and it has only done something like 20k miles or less, I cant remember, and he really was adament that with an older bike like that they wouldn't be selling it unless it was in top shape.

The dealership is very reputable, and their prices are slightly higher than average, but on word of mouth and experience I know they really do back their prices up with aftercare/good bikes.
And bearing in mind he will offer me roughly 1400 for my bike part exchange (subject to a once over to make sure it isn't crapped out) I will not be paying much for a signifigantly nicer bigger bike.

The insurance is managable (700 roughly) and the restrictor will set me back 70-130 depending if he can sort out a Suzuki kit that they are only meant to sell with new bikes, but from what he was saying, the fairing on its own would set me back about 500 if I was adding it to a naked GS500E, how accurate that is I don't know.

So by all accounts I am sure I will get a decent bike if I decide to get it as these guys really are spot on with their bikes quality.
So I placed a deposit on it, and pending wednesday when I will see it up close and sit on it, I will probably get it.

Now I am rushing around like a headless chicken trying to sort out my bike test (theory in about 3 weeks, yay)

Thumbs Up

20k on a GS is about middle of the road they last well up to about 60k if looked after.

Oh and the Fairings are something like £435 direct from Suzuki.

Really £1499 is not that much for the bike your getting if it is in such good condition like they say it is, If I were you I'd go for it oh and where abouts is this dealership as I might beat you to it
Very Happy Very Happy
