Lowsided on a roundabout on the GPZ. Only had it a bit over a week too. Busted up my leg, only cuts and bruises. Ambulance was round the corner on another job, paramedic went "Fuck them, I'm going to the biker!" Happened to by my mate Mike from Hampshire and IOW Air Ambulance.

He came over and went "Oh God, Right, Hospital or Pub?"

Naturally I chose Pub.

Got to assess the damage tomorrow, I think I've cracked the left hand engine casing and I've bolloxed the gear lever. Forks might be bent, either that or the mudguard is. Front left Indicator is dead too. Apart from that I think it's ok.

Sounds like I got lucky, mine just slid and span, carved a nasty hole in the water pump cover, nothing a bit of chemical metal couldn't sort though

Worryingly my bike is currently held together in places by a mixture of cable ties, chemical metal, araldite and duct tape, also the occasional bolt if you look hard enough

Only at 4000RPM, the belly pan, which I forgot to add is held together with fiberglass, doesn't seem to like 4000rpm much, other than that it doesnt really vibrate that bad to be honest.

Doing about 60 down the dual carriage way with pillion we slide about 30-40m we passed out whilst we waited for recovery, when the valve on my bike suddenly blew, Que sliding side to side then all I remember is sliding down the road whilst looking at my pillion thinking why the fuck are they say on the bike whilst where sliding.

Luckily no one hit us but two cars did have the kindness to stay behind us whilst we where sliding then pullover and see if we where ok, and let me borrow a phone to ring my dad to bring the van down to pick us and the bike up. No injury's. only damage to the bike was two broken indicators and clutch cable, and a wonkey number plate. Lucky we where wearing the proper kit and got of lucky.

It could have gone worse as lucky we slide into the bank on the side of the road and not in to the central reservation

62 Was doing about 45-50 down the road, then out the blue a parked car just pulled out in front of me going for a u-turn, grabbed the brakes, after that i remember opening my eyes, some women running over to me, and some AA dude walking my bike off the road, he was just a passer by hadn't been called or anything ( thanks again). Mostly cosmetic damage to the bike, snapped gearstep, bent left bar, some scratches and bruises, and a really stiff neck. Women said that there was quite some damage to her car. The good thing is just after the accident she repeatedly said i didn't see you, which clearly means that it was not my fault as she was stationary behind another couple parked cars outside some flats, and without a signal made the move. Opinions? Thanks.Kaz.

^ Hope youve got witness statements, as im sure her insurance company will turn around and say she pulled out in good time, you were going too fast to not be able to brake intime etc.

Probably one of those things that could have been avoided, either way she was in the wrong, but I pretty much guarentee you the story will have changed by the time the insurance company here about it.

#63 15/07/2009 2nd of the year

Just left my local triumph dealership where i was testing a lovely new Street Triple R. I got through all the gravel covered twisties of the back roads to my house.
Got quarter of a mile away from my house and BANG.

Shite box red pug306 pulls across my path and wipes me out a treat. Best bit is there was a police car 2 cars back that saw the whole thing.

Spent a spell in hospital and been recovering so not got round to posting.

Riding on a nice B road, hit a pot hole, parted company with the bike which collided with a car coming the other way and then i piled into both. Bit of tumbling down the road, few days missing from my memory.
First thing i remember is waking up in hospital with my leg in traction and a stone in wieght holding my femur bone back in my leg. Had the bone nailed the following week then got out another week later.

Damage

All fairing ruined. Headlights and clocks broken. Tank ripped back off the bike, broken levers and pedals. Bent subframe, and cracked the main frame. Had my leathers cut off aswel.

Hope I don't have to use this but almost did today. Ambulance comes flying up the road, so I moved out the way, goes past and I set off again. Just round the corner, I'm coming up to a load of parked cars on my side of the road and out of nowhere this stupid cunt in a silver people carrier/tank just pulls out from the line of cars. Had to slam on the breaks, skidded and the back end came out, brought it back in an came about 2ft from crashing into the back of him. Was raining though as well.

Glad I wasn't the next though!

There wasn't any witnesses believe it or not, 08:15 on a Monday morning, the accident happened on Kilmarnock Road a fairly busy road in Glasgow, But i have already spoken to her insurance and they sent me on to a firm called help hire, I had to send them a certificate of my cbt today apart from that i went through the rest of the procedure before hand, chap on the phone said once they receive the certificate someone will contact me to collect the bike and also drop of the courtesy bike, i think the one thing left was my lid, the guy said i should be able to get a new one from the accident, was worried because there's no way i can fork out another £370 . An c_dug i do have legal cover with my policy. Just to mention as well this was my first proper off since i got the bike back in February. Any advice is much appreciated (in advance). Thanks.Kaz.

I don't want to type it all again so I copy it from another forum..

All happened so fast.. I overtook the car when I had a right hand bend ahead. I had a bit too high speed and I think I leaned more than ever before.. then there was just tarmac and the side of the road.. I was thrown off the bike like a puppet.. I found my bike on the side of the road with fairing cracked and full of mud and grass. Me looking no better. Luckily I didn't hit anything. And thanks god there was no kerb.

I think I hit the ground with many parts of my body.. my elbow hurts, my right thumb hurts, my left hand hurts (cannot lift a pen with it), my pelvis hurts.. I had x-rays everything seems to be fine. I'm a bit shaken and lost my confidence.

My helmet did the job, my head is fine. Bits of the helmet are missing and there are scratches on both sides so no way I can use it again..

According to a witness I completely lost a grip.. The road was wet and some crap on it as well.. I was going about 60mph I believe.. but the guy from the car I overtook said it was more like 70mph.

DAMAGE: amazingly low considering the speed, probably because neither me nor my bike were rubbing the tarmac for a long time.. me and the bike ended up on the side of the road.. a mud and grass is everywhere though.. all inside of the bike was stuffed with it. F00k the fairings.. I'm happy that the frame is ok. It the frame was damaged I would give up and just brake it.

What is f00ked.. RH handle bar bent, RH brake handle scratched to f00k, Front fairing, RH central fairing in pieces, RH indicator is gone, rear brake lever bent, RH footrest is gone, RH rear fairing cracked and scratched.. Bike repairable but it's going to cost 800ish quid.. I'm going to fix it because A) I'm still on 33bhp licence for 20 months, B) I just rebuilt the engine

Now 17/07/09 the bike is pretty much fixed except the fairings. It getss me to work and back home.. cheaper than taking a taxi The fairings will be back on the bike hopefully this month.

Had my first off yesterday,on my way to Tesco when a Volvo pulled out infront of me. I think I hit the back brake far too hard,swerved and fell off the LHS of the bike.

Damage to me- Huge hole in my left knee,skinned my left hip and bruises everywhere.

Damage to my bike- LHS indicator snapped off,gear lever buggered,lots of fairing scratches and cosmetic damage and the end has snapped off the clutch lever.[/b]

Had my first spill yesterday!

Was coming back from volunteering in a hospital in Cambridge at about 8 in the evening, roads were fairly quiet. Just starting to spit with rain so I thought I'd get onto the A10 quickly to get ahead of the weather.

Rather inevitably I guess, I went round a roundabout a little too quickly, I can only guess there was some surface water tht I missed, possibly diesel on the road? I was already over at a fair angle so the bike didn't have far to fall, there was just a terrible moment of 'oh shit as it slid out from under me. Was probably doing 25ish, the bike slid a few yards with me stopping just before it. It did a pretty cool 360 degree spin though.

Kudos to the bus driver behind who helped me picked the bike up

Just pushed it on a side road, had a quick check to see if it was leaking/what the damage was and rode on home.

Damage to me: Fairly fucked ankle, swollen and bruised, sore elbow, nothing too major really. I landed on the right ide and took most of the force on my pads in the jacket, to leathers!

Damage to bike: Scratched exhaust and fairing, slightly bent brake lever and pedal, but fairly good considering!

Got my Mod 1 on saturday so I'll keep fingers crossed its all fine by then!

On a quick side note, does anyone know if they will turn me away from the test center with a shattered (but useable) mirror, or does that want replacing?

I personally wouldnt risk turning up to mod1 or mod2 with a smashed mirror, as your supposed to be using them, and lets be honest its not going to create a fantastic impression, if the thing they hammer you about on the tests which is observations is hindered by your mirrors and the state of em
