My Powervalve Servo arrived today for my TZR engine.
Its a 4DL powervalve which I am fitting onto my 2RK engine.
So I have no wiring harness on the loom for it.


Now wiring wise, The Servo unit has 4 wires in total. I was expecting 3, or 5. Not 4.

The 4 wires are...


3 Pin Plug connector:

Brown
Black
Gray


Single Male Bullet connector:

Black (Yellow stripe)





Now I know the bullet connects to the bullet wire on my CDI unit. It is the signal wire.

Black, I am guessing is the Earth.





Brown and Gray?



I do have a brown wire coming from my Reg/Rec which is kicking out 1v when the bike is running. Could this be for the Servo?


And Gray wire? If the brown wire is for the Reg/Rec connection, Then I am guessing the gray must be the live?

bad news is mounting the pulley from the later engine tzr gives you problems.
the actual mounting points are rotated on the early 2RH engine compared to the later 4DL engine the servo cables will pint much further forward rather than upwards and if fitting to a tzr will most likely be too short as standard also this gives u a real ball ache of aligning the power valve so it opens and close's correctly in relation with the servo motor.
Also u need a bronze bush to support the valve at the pully end (i machined a spare end cap to fit which also has the oil sealing ring all ready there)

i have been messing with the setup on mine for weeks all mainly trail and error with the system hooked up on a spare head and reving the engine in the bike. with the vavle working its great as u have the best of both worlds ie: low down torque and fantastic top end plus its much more ridable that way.

Hi

Not sure how much use this will be.

From a TDR125 owners handbook (Belgarda built, so hopefully be the same as the Italian TZR125).

3 wires from the YPVS servo. A black and yellow on its own and a connector with 2 wires, one black and the other maroon. The black and yellow goes to the cdi unit. Black goes to earth on the battery. The maroon goes to the +ve feed from after the ignition switch (ie, live switched on with the ignition).
