Or keep your foot on the changer, keep a few revs on and slowly let the clutch out. Do this a few times to get into 1st

Confused ...that's weird, 'cos I do it all the time!

Ok, here's the trick...

...pull the clutch in, ans then put your foot on the gear lever (press it down)...

...now, slowly release the clutch to around the biting point (not past it!), and the gear should go in place...

..repeat this until there is no more "clunking" of the gears...

So...once you hear the gear go in place, pull the clutch back in and lift your foot slightly off the lever...and then put your foot back onto the lever, and slowly release the clutch again...

Nah mate, you said..."keep a few revs on and slowly let the clutch out"...you don't really need any revs, otherwise you'll probably rocket off!

Try changing gear when ur stopped without slipping the clutch.
Oh and without a few revs you're more likely to stall! The gears will kick in well before the throttle as you slip the clutch.

Robby mate, my NSR's the same year as urs! 1990.. ?

I'm after a 400 now. I like my old NSR:) Kick start always works well and the bike runs different to the later models. Less problems (or just different ones:))

i know how to solve it..............it happens to me when tits pull out in front of me and i gotta stop hard...if ur still just keep pressing down on ur shifter....if the gears aint changing slip the clutch A LITTLE and ur bike will move a tad or jump as it gets grip you should be able to select 1st now
works like a charm for me
lemme know if it works

Just pay attention where you're goin and kick down as youre braking - you'll stop better too.

Or - as Rob says, just roll the bike a bit.
