The NC29 will proberly cost you the most , then the rs250 then the nc30.

All top ends are very similar all around 120-130.

0-60 not much difference again rs250 might just win it over the nc29 due to it being light , the nc30 has a long first gear.

the nc29 will be the cheapest to run as its a inline4 , spark plugs etc are cheaper (compared to a nc30) and so full but to be honest not a great deal of difference between it and the nc30. The rs250 will Cost the most to run due to 2 stroke oil and maintainance.

1st NC29 (gearing is nice) 2nd NC30(long first gear) 3rd RS250(it`s not a honda) Thumbs Up

If you are not an experienced rider then you will be faster on the 4 strokes. However the rs250 will probably make you a better rider. Though there's not much in it because they're all pretty peaky little thigns.

The 'positions' in a race thing means very little, because it's going to be 95% about the rider until you're racing at a decent level.

Oh and I've never heard of a rs250 'rr'.

As G said the RS250 will make you a better rider, however I also think they encourage you more to ride like a loon than a 400. Whether that's a good thing or not is your decision Wink

On the other hand the 400's are by far the cheapest to run, so you may actually be able to improve your riding more with one of them as you'll be able to rack up almost twice the amount of miles for the same fuel costs.

I like the RS250 but i already have a NS125R and you really have to work to get any speed out of it. I had a go on my mates ZXR400 the other day and it was great, i'm 20 in Nov but i want a bigger bike now, i could do my A1 33bhp test now with a few lessons and then do my Accel. Access when i turn 21.

I don't know what to do because if i do my A1 i know that after a week with riding with a restrictor i'll just take it out and ride illegaly.

Are there many of you that have done that?
How easily can they catch you, do they have to impound your bike first before they can look in the carb.

I've seen some bike mags documenting the RS250 as a race replica but wasn't sure if they make a stock machine as well so i thought i'd better say 'RS250 RR'

There has been more than enough detailed threads about 33hp legal-ness in the past, use the search feature.

The rs probably makes more power before it gets to the powerband than the nsr does at peak power.

However it very much /feels/ like you have to rag it, more so than a 125 I would say... just because the power band is so defined as such.

I don't think theres any way i could last two years with a restricted bike, but on the other hand there's not much chance that i'll be doing over 100 very often so the police would probably not catch me out. I live in SW Scotland near Lockerbie and it is very rare that i ever see a copper. I've never seen a bike copper yet in 19 years of living here.

Sorry a little off topic, but if you get any of the bikes listed here you will be going over 100... lots. Twisted Evil

Have you considered a Honda CB400. The engine is the same as the CBR400 i think or it may be slightly detuned. It looks like a smaller version of the Hornet and sounds superb. The Jap imports eg CBR400 and CB400 may be restricted to 112mph due to there regulations but should do 130mph full power. My friends CB400 does over 100mph as a 33bhp and is a nice bike. First gear goes up to 50mph i think he said. Consider this bike if you like this style but it seems u want a sports 400.
