Ok so it probably out there but search is running slow and I'm lazy.

I have a bike with straight through pipes that passes its MOT each year with a caution that the exhaust is noisy. Not a single marking on it, not even the manufacturer.

My friend has a bike with a scorpion race can which is marked 'not for road use' but has a db killer fitted and is significantly quieter than mine.

Guy down the pub has told him that it will fail the MOT due to the markings on the can, is this correct?

Is it just an urban myth that polishing the markings out will pass a MOT? Is it not obvious that you've polished the markings?

yup it will fail with not for road use on it

Easy way to get through an mot with it.
Stick some tape on it. The tester is not allowed to remove anything that doesnt use a key or clips. Thumbs Up

Mine with full race system has MOTs fine - took it to different place and they moaned and made me buy a baffle.

Depends on the MOT person, basically.

Easy to do a decent job so it's not obvious polished out words have been.

Laughing Thats a bit Yodaish Laughing

Probably the answer to it all is to check with the MOT guy. I think I need to change mine. Despite taking 5 bikes this year he still wouldn't tell me if my bike was going to fail the MOT before he started because one of my indicators was a bit dull due to riding through a thuderstorm to get there.
