I have a can of the spray stuff. You're supposed to spray several layers on so it's got like a really shiney glaze on the plate. I tried it on my old RS but it fucked the plate up.

Anyway, would you really want to test it? haha.

And why your at it, get yourself nicked and a criminal record for attempting to pervert the course of justice Rolling Eyes

As Ste says, there is nothing that works bar one (which I have seen direct evidence of and which is also illegal) and that is the old fashioned white/silver on black plates, but you can only fit those if your vehicle was registered prior to October 1972.

What is the legality of a stainless piece of metal underneath the actual number plate?

I saw this only an old BMW on a charity run a couple of years ago. I was behind him for most of the run and I didn't see his number plate once as the sun was reflected by the metal. If the plate itself is totally legal where would you stand?

i highly doubt it would work but if it did... just because your reg plate dosn't get pictured your not invincible, they will just look at your bike, modifications and gear. find everyone with a matching bike in your area, see if anyone else has the same mods, (can, hugger, seat cowl etc) ask to look at your gear...
then nick you.
nothing you can do about it.

Granted, they bothered to trace this guy, because he couldn't have made it easier for them - repeated, face on drive throughs at the same fixed camera. Guy was asking to be caught. (and I guarantee it cost them far more to bring him to justice than he paid in fines and costs)
I don't condone speeding through cameras. The fixed gatsos and truvellos in my local area are all in genuine spots where traffic needs to be slowed down. In that respect, I prefer cameras to fecking speed humps - 100%

Equally, I don't profess to know anything, but I would be very doubtful that passing through a few gatsos would instigate a police investigation. I have been double flashed by 2 gatsos in 4 years of riding. Both of these produced NIP's, both of which I ignored. Never heard a thing since..

I just don't believe the powers that be actually have the resources anymore... And I highly recommend ignoring NIP's (at your own risk, of course) - If everyone ignored them, just for a few weeks, the whole scheme would come crashing down

Thumbs Up

My Dad bought some of this spray at a bike show once, He sprayed it on my plate I have set off 3 maybe 4 gatsos since and have never had anything through about them. Read into that what you will.

You're either really lucky and they weren't loaded or the police didn't care enough to have the image enchanced to reduce the reflection of the flash and get a good idea of the reg...

For what it's worth, I've set off 2/3 gatos, with no spray, and never heard anything myself.

I think there's a certain amount of bad luck involved with getting caught.

If its the reflective stuff im thinking off it makes the flash blind the camera.
However, back at the gasto fat bastard doughnut munching office all they do is flip the photo into a negative and they can see you reg.

you`ve all seen those police, camera, action TV shows.
1 guy was driving normally down the road, but had an anti-flash plate, the cops pulled him as their ANPR camera in the car couldn`t read the plate, arousing their suspicion

Lucky indeed.
Loads of cameras don`t even have film in half of the time and are more of a deterrent than anything else. Some don`t even flash FYI.
With the local ones in small towns there`s a 70% chance you could drive straight through and get away with it coz it`s either not connected or there`s no film in it (presuming it`s not digital).....but the money makers on busy roads are always maintained and will get you every time.

I think it was this

Fit one and the polis, understandably, will ram it up your bottom bracket.
