Posted: 19:45 - 29 Aug 2009 Post subject: Just fitted an NGK Iridium Spark Plug... |
 |
|
This topic isn't anything special, but i just thought i'd tell you guys what difference an NGK Iridium Spark Plug has made to my 125.
I'm not noticing a HUGE difference, but when i shift into 5th, i have a bit more power and acceleration than i used too.
Apart from that, i can't really tell that it's an Iridium. Pretty satisfied with the little tweak to my 5th gear. Not bad considering i got it off ebay for the price of a standard NGK Spark Plug in my local bike shop.
I only got an Iridium plug due to the fact it's a real chore to get to my spark plug, so i decided to get one which lasted longer. I actually changed the spark plug just because my manual says it's due for replacement... Physically, there's nothing wrong with the plug, but it's always there for emergencies
So only get an Iridium if changing your spark plug is a pain in the arse. Plus, only get it for a bigger bike with a MUCH bigger engine. Doesn't really improve anything on a 125.
Oh, and get them off ebay |

I decided to try an iridium spark plug in a last attempt at solving my problem of my ped running rich and fouling the plugs.
I noticed a slight increase in acceleration.
It has soldiered on and one in three says that it sorted my 6 month long headache of spark plug fouling. ____________________ Doug97 wrote: Fuck you, what they did was awesome. That's good to hear mate
I thought that the way to sort out your fuel running rich was the air screw or something?
I'm not to sure, but if an Iridium plug sorted the problem out then i might have to tell my mate, as he is having the same problem with his 125. |

Ah right, have you noticed any difference with the Iridium plug at all?
I only got the Iridium plug as it was the same price on Ebay as the Standard plug in a local bike shop.
If you have the money, then i'd say get one for an extra couple of quid |

I thought I'd try one of these in my CG, not sure how old the one in there is currently but I've had the bike a year and the previous owner didn't mention changing the plug so thought I'd try a new plug as it couldn't hurt....off I popped to ebay the other day and got one for about £7, It arrived this morning so popped the new plug in, got about half a mile down the road and bike started spluttering , pulled over where it conked out and the bike would no longer idle , it would start with higher revs so turned around and struggled it back home spluttering along at 30mph.
Took the new plug out and the end looked very black (the old plug was a bit dirty but not black like this brand new plug that had only been in the bike minutes!), thought I'd try the old plug again but was now getting the same problem! Had a look at the plug and had also gone black quickly, some sort of rattling noise with the engine seem to have developed as well.
Anyway wish I never changed it now! Not sure what's happened but it's chuffed the bike right up , bike garage I use shut as well so have to wait until next week just hope it's something simple.
Can't help thinking if it aint broke.... |
