Hi all,

I've been on here a few days now and I've been trying to work something out. What do these numbers mean? I've only noticed them on Hondas. Are they Honda specific? I've also seen an NC24 which I think was a CBR400 from 92 or something.

Can someone please explain? Confused

Ta.

Ok here we go again...

nc30 latest vfr400 about 89- 94/95

nc35 Rvf400, took over from the vfr, very similar with slightly different components and looks more modern. same V4 Thumbs Up 95/95-99

nc29 cbr400 90-99 the latest cbr400 this has a gullarm type swingarm/chaisis.

nc24 old vfr400 pre 89

nc23 old cbr400 pre 90 has tri-arm type swingarm/chasis.

that should be your lot.

Id only concern myslef with the nc 29, nc30 and nc 35 becasue they are the newer ones which look much better better parts etc.

Hi

A gull-arm has a banana swinging arm (ie, bent, supposedly like a gulls wing) while the tri-arm has a braced swinging arm (ie, triangular with the brace).

These codes are just Hondas own codes for the bike. Most of the makers use a system of model codes which are not the same as the marketing codes most people use.

All the best

Keith

negatory Wink

its basically the same bike as the 250, but doesnt rev as high, sound as manic, look as cool, or lean as far, 250 wins it Mr. Green

and the 400 has soggy suspension Razz

ahem, the 400 has potential Razz

its definately a top bike, but i still dont think it can match the "special" feeling of the 250

having a bike that revs that high, knowing you a riding the highest revving motorbike on UK roads, its just a cool feeling, the sound did it for me

unfortunately the 250 just doesnt have the engine it needs, and thats where the 400 comes in, im pretty sure i'll fall in love with the NC29 once i get it sorted, insured, and we get on some of those rideouts Smile

All very true;

knew you would approve. i recon the engine is the biggest advantage between the 2, speed wise.

you'll def fall in love with it. how could you not, the're beautiful little things...
