Severe Memory loss

Ever since I can remeber,

I have no memory, I can look at something and forget it within about 5seconds.

Example 1:

At work I am always having to write things down on my arm because I can look at a cut size on a drawing walk 20 feet to the saw, and have already forgotten it. Even after writing it on my arm, I will walk off then have to walk back and look again then put a tick next to it. Just so I don't go back and have to check again.

Example 2:

I have to store everything on my phone in a passworded file, because I will forget it, if I don't.

Example 3:

I have no idea where any of my friends live, or anything and only get there by using landmarks that I have put in my phone.

Example 4:

This is one that everyone will beable to understand, whatever I write on here or somewhere else, I read it then reread it. Post it, then reread it, even then I will go on to read something else, then go back to it and reread it again because I will think I posted it in the wrong thread by accident.

Now some of you may be thinking, 'I bet he's smoked to much weed as a kid' The answer to that is NO, I have only smoked weed once or twice.

The only thing I can think of I a head injury I had when I was about 4 that took a chunk out of my head after falling off a wall.

Anyone got any ideas?

Me, I'm like that. When I ring someone at work I have to write their name down on a bit of paper or I will forget it whilst speaking to them, I need to refer to the paper every so often. My hands are covered in biro as memory aids.

I can not remember a number if I walk from one side of the room to the other, have to jot it down and carry it with me.

I do things like leaving things on my door mat that I have to take out with me, so I see them as I leave.

Strangely I can remember obscure CAD commands that are only needed every 6 months and the tappet settings on my bike and of course rationing in the war.

I had a stroke in 2005, but to be honest, I was like this before. Maybe it dates back to when I put my head through a car windscreen at 18 (didn't bleed, just had a huge lump and a bill for the screen)

On a serious note, no doubt theres a reason you cant get any proper help, or you've tried and it didnt work...( )

But Shaun is right. From what we've gathered on here, you could do with trying to get some psychological help.

I've never had memory issues, apart from not remembering as much as i did before my first (and worst) bike accident....

I know the cure to all your troubles...

Try to live more day by day, then you mind wont be so clouded which can interupt your short term memory when thinking about things days ahead that dont need thinking about.

I recently got a large pin board put on the wall which i pin all things to that are current, and thats helped a lot, except the bills on there still need paying !..
