I've been looking at the forum for a while, it's been a great help and a good laugh... fairplay to everyone. I'll hopefully have passed my test pretty soon and need some boots, but I'm not sure which to go for. I've seen a lot of Akito stuff, well cheap, but is it all crap? Would Sidi's / something else be a better investment or what? I am not rich.
Peace out

I kinda quite like my RST Boots bought for £70, there waterproof and fit well and offer alot of protection.

All I can say is stay away from Spada boots as I had a pair fall apart after about 2months of use.

I can highly recommend Frank Thomas Aqua Boots too I had a pair that lasted well over 2 years and they would have lasted longer if I hadn't have pulled my bike back while the sidestand was still down then the side stand dug into the boots splitting them at the gear change pad, they even survived an accident intact too!

Just get the best you can afford. check for tough protection around the ankle/shin area. Your ankles tend to snap like twigs, if you have no protection. Toe sliders are good if you ride hard round corners (and dont lift your feet up).

i bough some sidi vertibreys (sorry sp.) and they have pretty good protection. Wouldnt say they are the most comfortable, but my feet have grown to like them. 150 quid though...

Have you looked at altberg's.

https://www.altberg.co.uk

I have a pair of Clubman's and they are the most comfortable, warm and dry boot I have every had.

I've had them over 2 years now and covered over 20K miles in them in all weathers and they almost look like new, I suspect they will last another 4 years easy!

Good side:
Excellent boot
Very well made
Purchase on-line (30 day money back G'tee)
You can get them `serviced' (If the soles wear out etc. you can get them repaired by Altberg)

Down side:
Style = not the best looking boot.
Very warm = may be too warm for the middle of summer.

If you live near, or fancy a trip to the factory (Richmond, North Yorkshire) you can get them made to measure, and it's a great place to ride your bike.

Came top in RiDE Mag Rider Power Survey as well.

Check out the Product Reviews section of my website for more details.

Buy what you can afford now, something is better than nothing.

You can always get better ones somewhere down the line.

Oh, and have a look on ebay, there are sometimes bargains to be had cos people buy all the gear, wear it twice and give up. I saw lots of boots for sale, just had trouble getting them in my size - if you're more average you might find something.
