The BT090 on the rear has finally got down to the limit marker, and after yesterdays adventure through the pissing rain and the arse sliding out at every roundabout i have concluded that summer has indeed fucked off for a while.

Seeing as i cant get a winter hack i will have to use the ZXR400 throughout the winter.

What do you lot suggest i put on my rims that will give me the most stability and grip this winter?

Cheers peeps.

I've just got the regular Z6 on my rear, feels a lot better in the wet than the Z4 did. Perchance next time I'll get some Interacts just to be a Metzeler whore.

the best price i have found online is £182.77 + £8 delivery.

Can anyone on here better that?

I just looked on two websites and both came back at £209. Where are you getting yours from?

Roadsmarts.

I'd rate the ones fitted on my Superfour over my previously beloved Diablos.

I keep banging on about roadsmarts ALL the time so I'll bang on now. Works wonders on all the bikes ive ridden in winter, both on the blade and 6R. Finally got shot of the back, still 2mm on the rear but squared off after doing 1.5k miles on the motorway constantly. They lasted 7k on the 6R and still looked barely scrubbed in when I sold it! Round and black do roadsmarts for £180 delivered for 160/17 and 120/17. A sporty-ish, stable tyre that lasts!

Whatever.

Aslong as its round, black and made of rubber.

Or, instead of going on everyones reccomendations, try somthing different. M&P/Busters (boo-hiss) are/were doing Avon Vipers for £110 (120 front 160 rear)....

Allways slated Avons myself till i tried them....have run michelin (pilot sports and pilot powers), pirelli (diablo corsa 3) and bridgestone (BT014) on my zx6 and have found these avons to be the best so far...

But it all boils down to personal pref.

Cool

Another vote for roadsmarts here, nothing special in the dry beyond warming up nice and quick, but they are hugely impressive in the wet Thumbs Up

Was doing some research and i have decided against getting the Metzelers. They seem to be used for much bigger bikes. 600+cc

They will be far to stiff on the arse of a ZXR me thinks. Im just gonna replace the BT090 i have on there at the moment. I know how it feels, i know how it grips etc etc.

Pilot Power 2CT

Can't even tell the roads are wet when its raining. They turn in great, and are so grippy its like your stuck to the road. Beware though, there not very progressive so if you ever do get them to there limits, which you won't on the road, they can let go without any notice! Awesome tyres though, espeically in the winter. They will never let go on the road, and there 2 compound aswell, so they won't wear out to quickly for grippy tyres.

I went for Diablo Corsa 3's, because I got them cheap, there as good as the Pilot Power's in the dry, if not a little better, heat up really quickly, but there not as good in the rain! Still an amazing tyre, a bit more neutral then the Pilot Power's, so they won't drop is as quickly, which some people like, I actually prefer a quick drop in and will probably get 2CT's next, or if its summer, I'll just get some scrubbed in Racetechs.

I have the same experience as SamJL with the 2CT and Diablo Corsa III. the 2ct are superb in all conditions but really good in the wet. the corsa 3 had to be warm for any confidence and were actually a bit slippy when cold.

Very Happy

I kind of wish I'd actually gone for the 2CT's now! The Corsa 3's are good, but they need to get hot and don't seem to drop in all that well, very stable tyre though!

All valid points guys, but like i said before. The majority of tires mentioned on this thread are for heavier, bigger bikes innit.

If that's the case, BT-092's were good on my ZXR250. They're dual compound as far as I remember and they had similar profile to the 090, just more hardwearing. Almost like the pocketbike equivalent to the BT021. Give them a shout. Although, if the ZXR400 is 160kgish, roadsmarts will be fine for them. It's only about 13ish kg lighter than my 929 blade... or 20kg lighter than my old ZX6R. I think you'll be fine with any sport touring rubber.
