I understand I have to do the CBT...but do you need a provisional bike license in the form of a card/paper counterpart before taking your CBT...as you would for learning to drive a car?

Or does taking the CBT on its own (without applying for any license before hand) act as your provisional license?

Lol, niiiice...

I've just digged out my paper counterpart driving license...and its got a bit filled in with provisional entitlement...it says for categories A, BE and BH...lasting until 2059 for each.

I'm confused...so I my driving license acts as a provisional bike license...but it doesnt say this on the back of my card, just on the paper counterpart?

hmm mabye u will be ok as the paper counterpart is just as valid as the card to be honest i would check with the people you will be doing you cbt with to make sure its ok or ring dvla. mabye someone else on the forum will know...but saying that if u have a full licence you can ride a 50cc with L plates and you can do you cbt on a 50 so your probably ok, argh im confusing myself now Razz
i think you can over analise these things sometimes Smile

Right, I've been on gocompare.com...

For a CG 125, it would cost me about £400 fully comprehensive and £250 third party, fire & theft. For a 125cc leaner bike, that probably wouldn't be used every day I wouldn't need fully comprehensive would I?

depends how much you pay for the bike, i paid 300quid for mine and the insurer valued the bike as around 400quid and the excess on fully comp just wasnt worth it if the bike was recked by someone else. for me it just came down to making the insurance as cheap as possible and ill just have to be very carefull Smile and tbh the cg is f@#king bomb proof anyway Smile

Ok, yea...we'll see...if I get one, I might be able to get a fully comprehensive quote cheaper then with the current insurer for my car.

Right, I'm definately going to start saving for a bike now.

If you've got provisional A entitlement on your paper counterpart then that's fine. Though naturally you still have to do your CBT Smile

Always look through all the comparison sites for insurance... I ended up getting my cheapest through Swiftcover, insured by Devitt. £180 TPF&T Smile

It is a very cheap and very reliable mode of transport. I get 85mpg on my 90mile commute every week. (CG)

Yea, thank you.

Now I just have to save up the money for the bike, cbt and the gear...thats a little bit more expensive.

If I was going to buy a 125 to have it for a short time and then jump on a bigger bike after passing the test then I would go for CG. They are both the same pretty much, CG is cheaper though.

If I didn't plan full A licence and I wanted to keep 125 then I wouldn't buy any of those.

i voted for CG125 obviously, but i like the CBF125 , and have seen alot on the roads probably the most common bike i see on the roads now, hardly ever see a CG.

I didnt know anything about fixing problems before i got my CG, although I have a good knowledge of electronics so that helped me with the wiring , although that was a really easy fix. haynes and some tools is all you need, genuine honda fork oil seals are like £10, and michelin pilot sportys are like £60-70 a set which is great considering they are really great tyres.

even though im going to be doing A2 , as its easier and cheaper, i cant see myself getting rid of the cg, it goes 60MPH and as long as oil is changed every 1000 miles i cant see their being a problem, although disc brakes would be a big improvement

No contest.

I know nothing about football, but I expect the Brazilian team is better than the Indian one. Same applies to Honda 125s.

Oh, as well as the facts stated above. Part of the charm of a CG is that they refuse to die, but if they do begin to show signs of imminent death, you can always seem to bring them back to life with a Fisher Price My First Tools Set.

I know the Brazilians can kick a ball but the Indians could outplay Brazil any day in a cricket match and then who puts a bike together with there feet

Saw the first name around but missed the events. Someone went potato, banned and has too much spare time on their hands?
