It is also worth noting that Shoei will probably not actually be shoei at all that he should be dealing with - over here the Shoei distributor (Feridax) would deal with this type of issue if it ever arose and I would seriously doubt that they would take the same approach after the dealings I have had with them.

This is what I would have expected, as Shoei have a very good rep. I'm only on my second Shoei. First one lasted seven years, this one is up to eleven and still in good nick.

hetz, he said it was a brand new replacement so not second hand. and I am guessing it was the same model rather than the replacement for it - it looks to me like an XR1000 (UK model number anyway) so why would you expect an XR1100 in replacement?

He said "...a couple of years old." I guess that could mean the model date though.

-If a £600 helmet is 6 months old you could ask for £600/8=£75 off

Did they say what the problem was, and what may have caused it...

There maybe many people riding around with a helmet made around that time that are not aware of the problem. Who are having their lives placed at risk, all because a company wants to hush up a problem.

Next time I want a new lid I know what to do, rip the insides out of an old one, post a youtube video and whine about it around a few bike forums. Thumbs Up

It's still poor. I have a helmet that is 8 years old, it cost £50 and it's perfectly fine.

There are honestly some deadshits on this forum...
Guys - the helmet was not replaced with a like for like by any stretch. And it certainly was not replaced because shoei thought it was faulty. They still stand by the fact that they believe it was wear and tear. I don't - they do. Matter of opinion. BUT I am pretty sure they have replaced the helmet, because of the way it was "handled", and because of a few 'things" that happened off line...I wont go further into detail on that.

My definiative last post on this topic.

Thanks again to those that showed support.
