i got a 1986 dt 200 and can't figure out how to wire it.the harness has been cut up and i have no diagram to go off of.i am not going to run lights.the cdi box has 5 wires-blue,blue with a yellow stripe, light blue, brown, black.the ypvs controll box has 5 wires that i cam see that go in to the unit itself but it also has 3 that power it witch are-black with a yellow stripe, brown, black.also this bike had a battery does this power the ypvs controll box or did it just power the lights.the you have the magneto witch has 6 wires-white,yellow with a red stripe, black, brown, light blue, black with a red stripe.then it looks to me as there is a pulser on the outside of the magneto witch has 2 wires-white with a red stripe, white with a green stripe.last the is a volts regulator and that has 4 wires-yellow,red,black,red.really need help here.i am lost.thank you.

You could try visiting the Yamaha Australia web site. They have a section where you can access the owners manuals for various different bikes. The last page in the owners manual is a wiring diagram.

I know they have the owners manuals for the DT200R. I am not sure about the DT200L. That is what you have isnt it?? A red and white one???

The DT200L was only really sold in one state here in Australia and it is not that well catered for as far as dealer support goes.

You could try emailing Yamaha and asking for a copy.

Cheers, Bob.

there is a wiring diagram already in the wiring diagram thread

how basic do you want the custom diagram??
do you want just a on/off switch and the bare essentials (you'll need a battery or large cap to run the servo's and smoothe out the rectified dc)
but other than that, just the basic wiring,
no lights, no switches, no saftey switches

ok that was just the colours from the diagram i used,
ill draw up the diagram with your colours,

the basic princapal is the same,
join the colours that match from the alternator to the reg/rec and from the reg rec to the cdi/battery from the cdi to the servo controllers
its pretty simple ..
give me a bit of time and ill do again
